Meaningless is a bit harsh, they cost us a couple of top 5 picks 😅

In all seriousness though, I do tend to write off teams that have a late resurgence when it doesn't matter anymore. It obviously shows they can play because they beat good sides with a lot to play for. But you'd like to see them win a few more while still contending with the beast of expectation.
Meaningless is what was said. And everything that was said was half glass empty. Nothing positive to say and no balance, which was both insulting and unbelievable. This included stirring the pot about the future of the coach and the President.

She and Barrett provided no analysis. No rigour and facts to support what was said. Just assertions based on opinion. Neither added any value at all.

It should be acknowledged, we also lost 5 games by less than a kick so a bit of balance may have been appropriate because those results do make a difference at the end of the season.

But that is not the way of the entrenched AFL media landscape. It’s a tight little club on the gravy train. It’s easier to be vacuous with preconceived prejudices, and fill media space, than to actually do some research and add some value. It is why I really enjoy a lot of the stuff on YouTube. It is filling a vacuum not filled by the wider media.

Anyway, back to the draft. I have no doubt we will split pick 8 if we can, unless something unexpected happens in the first 6 “normal picks”. The strategy of how we split the picks, how far we slide back, and whether we also use future picks, will be fascinating.

She agreed with Barrett that our wins in the last 9 weeks of the season were meaningless. Despite us beating several finalists and them being desperate to beat us.

Don’t mind her having an opinion but she had nothing positive to say and what she did say lacked depth, balance and detailed analysis. The same as Barrett.

She is part of the AFL media landscape. Has been for ages. Hack is an appropriate word.
Were Hawthorn's wins in the last 9 weeks meaningless? Obviously not but they were no certainty to play finals till the last week or two. So should they have given up and tanked the last 5-6 rounds?

Based on their opinion all teams not looking like playing finals should just tank and plan for next year. Thankfully not many teams have that flawed mantra.

A lot of close losses in the first half of the season had a lot to do with that. And a tough first half of the season fixture. That's something that's overlooked. It's easy to be up and about early with a favourable draw. Our 2024 draw was always going to be easier in the second half with a raft of games at Marvel.
Probably the opposite of 2023 when we got off to a good start and then had to hang on in the second half of the year.

Well there is that rumour on big footy that the giants will get 13 and 29 for 16 and 21.

So 8 + 32 for 13 + 15

Means we likely get Lindsay or Reid
From what I read on the Richmond board, they want everything for nothing.
One wanted 29 and F1 for pick 23. They are delusional.

She was the hack that agreed with Barrett that Bassat was 'out of his depth' when he sacked Ratten and appointed Lyon.

Fancy that idiot saying anyone is out of their depth when he can't even work out FA compo and points for FS and academy.

Other boards are just as bad mate.

North thinks everything is going to end up in a haul for them. There kids are all superstars.

Melbourne fans are banking on some bust from 2 years and a random comment from demon land that they are only drafting mids.

Essendon posters were talking about getting our pick 8 .. for get this… less of a haul then they got for pick 9.

Gee, that makes you think doesn’t it?

I sure as hell hope the Hokthorn Hoks don’t have any bad luck with their expensive new long term recruit

His coach at the dragons said in an interview Trainer has had 4 concussions in his short career…that’s a concern for not only club drafting him but mainly his well-being

Correct Joff.

I unsubscribed after listening to it.

Any thoughts about Harrison Oliver?

https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/harrison-oliver/

Gives me Gulden vibes - left footed and a beautiful precision kick like Errol .... plays as a defender but could transition to be a mid distributor like Gulden .... courageous and very hard at it as well and can break lines

Played at Sandringham & Brighton Grammar ... so is right under our noses .... stands out as a Dalrymple like pick .... mainly because of his Gulden properties ..... though more pick 20 onwards like Gulden

The North board melts are going to be great when they draft Tauru at 2.

She is a host basically just there to move the conversation along not to challenge the “experts” opinions she just reflects whatever they have to say. Purple would be ropable if she started giving him a hard time on his half baked opinions

I raise season 2003 as a counterpoint

Ok, sounds like I need to get my head around Armstrong, seeing as every second mock draft has us taking him.
Haven't watched his highlights ,he is being compared to Jezza....what is everyones beef with him on here?

No beef with him. Just don’t see him being as big a need as mids given we have King Sharman Caminiti Owens Wood Keeler Cordy
