Wait until you hear about nerds like me that play Football Manager and brag about the latest 17yo wonderkid from Serbia or Ecuador or insert random country here that they've discovered :moustache:
Surely you only celebrate the 12 year old wonder kids from your world class academy and the day the game regens you a son

Allan could be the next Elliot Yeo but he could also be the next Sam Gilbert. Smillie also has a huge upside but also huge possibility to bust

Taking Smillie and Allan at 7 & 8 is just about the riskiest play we could make in that scenario
Bring it.
But nah, I think they're both pretty sure things. I don't really see the Gilbert comparison. And Smillie will be 200 plus games, too classy not to be.

I reckon Lindsay is a monty IF there are no major sliders and we chose to use pick #8. Can run and probably the best kick in the draft alongside Langford. An outside midfielder/wingman with plenty of scope for improvement going forward.
Fantastic 2 way runner. Best kick in it and can also win his own ball.

My personal opinion is that he will be a better midfielder in 5 yrs time than most ppl think.

I thought everyone here wanted Murphy Reid at 8? What happened?

Most would be far from upset, but seems the rumours don't have him at 8 so everyone is probably tempering their expectations. If we get him with a mid teens pick along with the pick 7 slider, then we've nailed the draft - regardless of the other teens pick we should have.

We’d be ****ing mad to trade back. Don’t get many top ten picks often

Don't get many drafts with this level of depth in the top 30 too often.

Gilbert would get the ball and choose to sprint the first ten metres regardless of the circumstance and then hack it to anywhere. That's Allan's floor - a dynamic athlete with not a lot of developed football ability. Massive upside though - he puts it all together and he could be the best player picked in this draft, easily.

Smillie I think will be a fantastic player, but the risk is that his drop off in form at the champs is worrying and he might fail to develop as a top tier player in the comp. Particularly with his size, unless he transitions into a clearance beast in the same way he is at U18 level, he doesn't really have any other attributes that he would be able to fall back on like athleticism/outside skills or the ability to also play forward/back

We could always do with more elite users of the pill, that's for sure.

Flashbacks to us picking NWM - best kick in the draft, can run, outside player with plenty of scope for improvement.

Lindsay is 100% a St Kilda-type selection

Allan to me I see Liam baker but 20cm taller.

A few comparisons for Lindsay I read above but when I watch I see Zach Merrett.

Competitiveness does not make a mid, it's just one attribute. We HAVE to stop taking flankers with our top end draft picks praying they become elite midfielders. It's truly about as St Kilda as it gets at this stage.

We have to have learnt our lesson by now, please 🙏
Don’t worry, Darylmple is a master of drafting mids.. just look at the genuine mids he drafted at Bulldogs and Swans.. He is of the view that genuine 2 way mids are the engine room of the side, flankers are just that.. role-players. We need contested ball winning mids, not quick flankers with highly suspect kicks (Travaglia/Allan), good kicking beats fast players, and turnovers kills forward 50 efficiency.
