Am I missing something? ill wait for Twoney's mock draft but seems to be all but confirmed that Nth are taking FOS at 2 and not trading down. Looks like a real risk the top mids are gone again. Can;t see Melbourne taking Tauru.
Damn appears appears my feeling could be right… Melbourne would be crazy to pass on Langford for Tauru. Anyways genuinely excited for Tauru, looks absolutely incredible in the air, seriously like Barker, Howe level. Some people are being hysterical on TT but I agree that we should take Tauru and split 8 for two shots at mids in the teens if possible.

If there is ever a year Cal is wrong it’s gonna be this one, do you really think after all the statements from club brass from the president to the coach about the midfield that we would draft 4 defenders?

I’d be very happy if we picked Tauru and Travaglia, both look like absolute athletic guns. We can with some luck get back in and grab a mid who I’m sure would still be a very good player. When you deviate from best available with as many needs as we have overlooking future champs to reach for good honest players you’re in big trouble imo.

Anyway it most likely won’t happen so people need to chill and let the draft play out. I wasn’t a huge wrap for WM, he had fantastic disposal and could run but didn’t get a lot of it and now he’s looking like a superstar. Maybe just maybe the guys we pay to do this know a bit more than we do.

Mission said we were looking for players who would fit our game style, tell me those two kids don’t.
Well said…IF we do get Travaglia & Tauru, they could be potentially all Australian down the track, as both have elite traits!
Let’s hope that Garcia, Dow, Carrol, Clarke Phillipou, Hall and McRae can help Steele give our midfield more punch.

So we went into the offseason to get Steele more help and even with 2 top 10 picks.

We are walking away with only Macrae.

Not sure that’s the big win Ross wanted when he said they wanted mids and to support Steele.

Unfortunately the best mids are earlier than our picks, same scenario as the Clark/ Coffield draft!

Those hoping the draft doesn’t play out like Twomey predicts saying this is the most unknown draft order will be sadly mistaken. Pretty sure Twomey says this is the most difficult draft to predict every year to add drama and an excuse if he gets it wrong. He also said it’s unlikely NM trade pick 2 so any mix up in the order looks unlikely now. Get used to Travaglia and Tauru in Saints colours.

Maybe this is the reason we signed up Carroll. Could read the tea leaves from a mile away.

So the club should grow a pair of balls and do something about it.

I'm sorry, but another poster said it perfectly - you need two to tango. We will never know how much work went into moving up, but maybe it was as simple as puting too higher price on our picks.

Other clubs sold the farm for a lottery, not sure it would have been the wisest move on our behalf.

Yah IIRC, Hobbs was a decent midfield prospect who seemed to be sliding (and so when he was at our pick a lot of us hoped), and Josh Sinn was a local boy with HBF to turn into a Mid vibes.

Nas was well rated, but an outside player and from Adelaide so there was a go home fear factor. Plus, we all have midfielder tunnel vision, so anyone who isn’t a mid automatically has a bad sheen to them.

In the end, we made the right call, when it would have been very easy to make the easy one. Hell, Nasiah is one of the best players from that draft class, and is tracking to be one of, if not the, best player in his position. You know that’s so, when oppo supporters don’t stop singing the praises.
The way we attack from the back half would suit the likes of Travaglia & Tauru…anyway, let’s wait and see tomorrow night pans out & hopefully enjoy the ride!!

All this squawking about who are the first two draft picks are. I want to know the real mystery of the Saints draft. Which Sandy spud will we rookie? Pretty lean picking now with so many leaving.

So that Higgins goal is it really worth it?
Yeah, it f***ing was.

What wasn't worth it was the poor loss to Geelong and Bombers early in the year, falling just short of GWS on the road, etc. etc.

Sick of posters blaming Higgins when you can pick any multitude of moments to have a ping at.

Would people be saying the same thing about Dougal's goal saving heroics against the Swans? Can't see anyone having a crack at him?

Most people said that with NAS.
Yet here we are.

Were much keener to take the local pick rather than the skinny as flight risk.
Nas was comfortably the most skillfull player in the draft.

The only appealing aspect to Travaglia’s game that he can run and he is local.

There is no upside to this guy. He stinks to high heaven as a bust

We've lost the absolute f*cking plot and the picks haven't even been made.

Shades of 2017 with that phantom draft. That’s what happens when you win yourself out of the real cream picks. Hopefully there’s at least one mid left.

I really don't care about the Higgins goal. It is what it is. You'll never take that euphoric feeling I had at that final siren and those few hours post game away from me. It's what football is all about. Hugging the random saints supporters in that sea of navy blue is something I'm going to always cherish.

We have 7 & 8. Not 5 & 6. There's no point sooking it up about it. Move on.

For now, Let's take Twomeys word as gospel,

I for one think, (and always have) Tauru will be the could develop into a generational player.

Travaglia isn't a mid. Not yet. But there's something there to work with.

And if Reid/Hynes are there at GWS picks. You can guarantee SOS will be on the phone.

So from the start we were told we need mis, mids and more mids, which is what we do need
Cal maybe (or likely) correct in his predictions, but surely Reid,Lindsay,Allan need to be one of our picks if the top tier players are not available.
We can't be disappointed with anyone but our recruitment team if that's our selections
While I don't dislike either of the 2 players Cal has predicted one is the wrong choice for what we currently need.
That's my opinion

This is the scenario where the AFL needs to introduce swapping players on the night tbh. North don’t want a mid, but feel they’re reaching for Tauru at pick 2. Saints want a mid but feel they’re missing the cream at Pick 7.

In an ideal world for both clubs, we swap Tauru for their pick 2 selection and throw in a sweetener should the scenario eventuate. The risk of trading 2 for 7, plus something else is that Tauru goes before then but doing it retrospectively once everyone in the top 6 has passed on Tauru gets the outcome both parties are after
