His upside is massive. If he did transition into a mid he looks like a jet modern mid who can run all day. He basically looks like another Darcy Wilson type, and Darcy goes alright.

I get the angst at not getting one of the highly rated inside mids but Travaglia looks very good to me.
Couldn’t agree more Re Wilson,he’s the defender version of him. Also being an elite runner is usually a baseline to af least being a decent afl level.

I see it (mixed with 'I hope it') plays out like this:

1. Richmond: Lalor
2. Brisbane (matching NM bid): Levi Ashcroft
3. North Melb: Finn O Sullivan
4. Carlton: Harvey Langford
5. Adelaide: Jagga Smith
6. Melbourne: Tauru. (I think they'll take Draper but hoping it's Tauru)
7. Richmond: Smillie
8. St Kilda: Draper
9. Gold Coast (matching Saints bid): Leo Lombard
10. St Kilda: Lindsay

I don't think any pick trades will happen in those first 10 picks.

Honestly - if Richmond are that invested in Bo Allan.

Offer then 7+8

For 6+10
If one of the clubs wanted to do this, you'd think they could make it happen even if the other wasn't all that keen.
I mean, the picks are so close that a F3 or F3 F2 exchange or something like that should get it done.

Theoretically anyway. Worst case an F2?

The entire club have rightfully said they want and are targetting midfielders. If they fail to deliver on that, then its been an adjective failure in my view.

We had options before this and again at the draft so we may still have a chance to grab the midfielder we crave.

They displayed last year they made some very shrewd moves come draft night/s lets hope they can do the same this year.
I agree, but the question is do we go for mids for mids sake ( say Reid for Tauru) or do we take the best.
If Draper or Langford were on the board and we overlooked them, I am right with you, if they are gone I would take say a Tauru and then the next best mid and could live with that.

So many exciting options.

If we walked out with Draper + Taurus we are absolutely winning.

If we can trade a future pick back into the first round to grab Lindsay or Berry or Reid then geebuz... Gonna be some pretty exciting times coming!

This scenario is impossible.

It’s one or the other.

Either the crows take Draper the dees Langford and us Tauru

Or

Crows Langford dees Tauru and us Draper.

Just another thought.
Misson mentioned RTB being involved and thinking long term.

(As much as we'd take a Langford/Draper if available)

Maybe RTB rates Pou/Windy/Garcia as the future mids we have now. So maybe Travaglia could be more of a Rozee type option that would balance out that group a bit. I'd still prefer Allan, but maybe they will rate Tobie higher. Reid added to that group might lack run and spark.

We've got Macrae and Steele for a while yet, so a different sort of mid project might not be so terrible while we still target a FA etc.

Wouldn’t this fly into the face of Mission yesterday saying we want mids and Lyons prior comments of needing further support for Steele and improvement regarding our midfield?

Nothing is impossible. It is highly unlikely, but not impossible.
Same way it is possible we get Lalor and Jagga Smith at 7 and 8

Mate.

If Langford goes 4.

The dees choice is Tauru or Draper.

They won’t be reaching for Bo Allan at 5. As the other 2 options won’t be there at 9.

Things you want... Vs Things you can get.

It all depends on how the clubs rate the players.
In 2017 we wanted mids and took Clark and Coffield.

We needed mids true. But i wish we'd had the nous to take Naughton.

Dont buy into the “can’t have”

We have the assets to get what we want. Balls in our court.

Misson said they'd prefer mids, but if it plays out as Cal said, maybe they'll think longer term. And Macrae will already be significant support.
I'm with you in that I'd try to trade up if it looks this way, even at significant cost. But if we can't, maybe the thinking gets tweaked.

Personally, I am all for taking TT and Tauru at 7/8 if none of those mids slide. Bottom line is we need A grade players (and yes, obviously ideally mids) but nothing excites me about the mids in the 8-15 range so IF* TT can become a mid then he poses potential of A grade talent with X factor and Tauru could very easily be one of the top KPP in the league. If we have two top ten picks, we might as well swing for the fences if we can't get the top level mids we want

coff was never a mid. He was a general intercepting defender. Clark played as a half back in his champ year and played midfield for the stingrays sort of what travaglia has done. It’s not like Clark was an out and out midfield gun. We hoped he would develop into it but just hasn’t his leg speed is the biggest issue.

Mission did mention mids but really how much can you read into what he had to say. He’s hardly going to nominate who we want, maybe it’s a feint.

What is long term thinking here?

Because there is a finite period out of Ro sincs Steele Wilkie that also needs to be considered.

Otherwise we need to start talking about trading those guys for more picks.
