What is long term thinking here?

Because there is a finite period out of Ro sincs Steele Wilkie that also needs to be considered.

Otherwise we need to start talking about trading those guys for more picks.
Not in our next flag side so it means what ?. We’re bringing in the best talent available, you want finals play better, be a better leader, mentor etc.

This is you stav, how’d that work out 🤣🤣.
I’d prefer us to be a little more like this mate.

Nothing is given in this league. You have to take it and be aggressive

It means - we need to be asking genuine questions about taking another HBF when we have an elite kid in NAS and arguably the best in the business in his prime in Sincs.

If we are going to take another, with the long term view in mind. Then why aren’t we doing that with Marshall Sinclair Wilkie and Steele ala GTs opinion.

Looking at Twomey's phantom draft and doesn't it strike anyone as kind of odd that Carlton go Jagga Smith? They have a midfield of Cripps, Walsh, Cerra, Acres, Hollands. 2 A graders, Cerra probably an A grader as well but a bit injury prone, Acres and Hollands decent. I would have thought if any of the 2 - 6 pick clubs stretch for Tauru they'd be a good candidate.

Their backline of Weitering (A grade), Docherty (A grade, getting on in years), Saad (great rebounding player, defending avergage), McGovern (can be a good player, hit and miss though, getting on in years also), Kemp (injury prone, decent), Williams (injury prone, who knows if he's still A grade..?), Newman (average, getting on in years), Young (average).

I feel like Carlton would get more benefit from Tauru than Smith straight away, and they're premiership window based on their age group is now. Why haven't they been spoken of as an interested party..?

Thats because people want a midfielder. Not a knock on his ability.

No mate, there been plenty of posts directly bagging Travaglia.

We all want an elite mid… but access to one is outside the club’s control for obvious reasons.

Not super weird. Cripps and Walsh are ball winners, at the coalface type operators, and while Smith wins his own ball he's also elite in close space and has that Pendlebury like ability to get effective disposal away almost anywhere. I can see a midfield of Cripps Walsh Smith and Cerra working very nicely. Acres and Hollands play more outside anyway and that's their strength. I think Smith provides more balance to their midfield than Draper would, fwiw

Biggest question mark for me is why Carlton wouldn't bid on Ashcroft at 3. You'd think they're in direct competition as top 8 teams, no reason why they wouldn't try and get Brisbane to pay maximum price

What's up with Draper? Why isn't he a lock to Adelaide? Back issues more of a concern than what's out there? Don't really understand this Langford to crows talk, why wouldn't they take Draper?

Our F1 for Tigers pick 10 this year?

I'd be wrapped with Travaglia and Tauru but would like to pick up Reid too

Why would the Tigers possibly do that?
Pick 10 this year for what is a chance of being a really late pick next year?

The only problem is it rarely works and Mr irrelevant the last pick in the draft Brock Purdy has saved their backsides. Without him that little Trey Lance fiasco would have cost the GM and more their jobs. You’re mortgaging the future out of frustration, if we wanted a mid that badly we should have shut down Romo and a few others who needed surgery and we wouldn’t be having this discussion.

Just after the Trade Period there was an article on either Zero Hanger or The Roar about some sort of fall out between both parties with mention Sid doesn't want to get selected by the Crows
A week or so later he stated in media circles that he was happy to go anywhere including the Crows.
Not sure what the issue was

Great post...with that midfield you would expect Smith to spend a lot of time in the ressies
