Your kidding aren't you?. Bloke is an absolute ELITE stopper and can intercept as well if required. Would free up Sicily to do what he pleases every week. Taylor is who you jump off a cliff for to get him to play for your club. We will have an A grade defence with 1 acquisition if it occurs. With Taylor isn’t he an intercept defender like Sicily not a man marking one like we need hey It would be awesome to see him play for us but would it work with Sicily and Taylor in the backline.
Unless you push Sicily forward.
This is the play IMO:That's the best option. One more year of no true KPD in 2025, but at least we will keep our top pick this season and likely bring in Smith.
Next season we won't have a top pick, but we can bring in Taylor which more than makes up for it.
100%. And we are not challenging next year, so no point spending top draft picks on a player we can get for nothing in 12 months. That's the best option. One more year of no true KPD in 2025, but at least we will keep our top pick this season and likely bring in Smith.
Next season we won't have a top pick, but we can bring in Taylor (as a FA) which more than makes up for it.
Would be arguably the best 1-1 defender going . Can do both .
That is why we are keen on trading a first in. I hear Geelong already interested in Worpel. Hawks would drive a hard bargain, if at all, but a Geelong first and second might be on the table. Or swap him for Holmes and forget about Smith?
It's hard to forecast obviously, but if we have another dire season then dishing out two firsts for Taylor could be risky business.
Not because there's any doubting his ability, but we really need some more of the youngsters to announce themselves and show us they are long-term players. We could be overestimating the list like Clarko did. Though if we have a strong finish to the season then it would be more understandable.
The rebuild is moving along quickly. Just waiting for players to have game experience. This is what I’m so worried about and yes I go on about it ALOT but I’m really worried about it that this list rebuild will be more like the 1996/2001 list rebuild then the 2004/2008 one because we don’t have the elite kids.
That’s been our role for a few years now. We will probably cop the same with Taylor and others. Still worth a crack though. We have the moneyWe were used. We will remember when the wheel turns. It will.
There are a lot in the industry, which is small, like that.
We are short a young elite KPF and KPD. If you cast your mind back to 2004 we had less elite young talent on our list than we do now. But we really need to find a couple more young elite talls. This is what I’m so worried about and yes I go on about it ALOT but I’m really worried about it that this list rebuild will be more like the 1996/2001 list rebuild then the 2004/2008 one because we don’t have the elite kids.

Dogs have said they are actively looking at bringing more young mids in.I'd say we'd be offering a 6 year thumper on $1.5m a year. It'll be that eye watering he wont be able to say no.
Would cost 2 firsts. Doubt we'd have the capital to also trade for Baz.
Worth a shot.
Trading Worpel for a pick in the mid teens and 30's make no sense. That is why we are keen on trading a first in. I hear Geelong already interested in Worpel. Can't match our offer - wouldn't have the cap space.Almost every club in league would go after Taylor if he was available. How many guys go from contending sides to bottom sides as FA? It’s a pipedream. Let alone gws may match anyway if they are contending.
Talk of trading Nash as he’s out of form like some were talking of trading Worps soon after his form after winning a B&F ….. heck let’s throw in Newk & Ward while we are at it!!!!! It won’t happen overnight. Patience grasshoppers.

Nash is a FA - that would be insane. If The Dogs came out at trade time and said for Smith we want Nash what would you do trade or walk?
That won’t happen so what’s the use ……. I think with Smith it will come down to where he really wants to land which will have a big say on the deal that gets done. Having said that I reckon the dogs would want more than that.If The Dogs came out at trade time and said for Smith we want Nash what would you do trade or walk?
