Agreed. We haven’t had the luxury of compo picks, academy and priority picks. other teams can hardly be praised for picking academy picks, father sons and no brainer top 3 picks. We’ve done well with what we have.I think our recruiting has been great personally.
I like the club's strategy of hitting the draft and supplementing with Free Agency. Hopefully we improve year on year and can draw a couple of bigger name free agents (King/Taylor/etc) to help us contend in 3-4 years
He's definitely in that form, but we need to win games or get closer if he's to get the amount of 2 and 3 votes to make a difference. An in form Newcombe will also compete with him for votes based on history. We're talking about Day and Newcombe winning brownlows? Worpel has a legitimate chance this year. 2nd currently in champion data
$16 mill over 8 years would make him think hard and longSam Mclure (arguably the media's biggest mouth breather) reporting that WCE are after Taylor, and that GWS are looking at a 6 year contract pushing 1.3 mil a year.
If we were looking to get him I'd imagine we'd have to be looking at 1.6+ for 6-8 years
$16m is good bananas, that’s all in haha$16 mill over 8 years would make him think hard and long
More importantly there was absolutely no mention of us whatsoever. Hopefully we're lurking in the background with an open cheque bookSam Mclure (arguably the media's biggest mouth breather) reporting that WCE are after Taylor, and that GWS are looking at a 6 year contract pushing 1.3 mil a year.

There definitely needs to be more transparency around salary caps. Even if the names are redacted and the breakdown is just in the form of percentage of the salary cap per season. How many players do the Giants already have on 6+ year contracts?
I guess Sam is able to be yet another Giants ambasador.
Would offer that in a heartbeat for him. If GWS offer him 1.3 mill over 8, then we trump that by 5.6 million over the 8 years. No way you can turn that down. Plus a massive Hawks fan growing up, gets to play at the G instead of that dump in Sydney. Girlfriend is from Melbourne aswell.$16 mill over 8 years would make him think hard and long
They did move on Taranto and Hopper so the question will not be if there'll be money to throw at Taylor but rather how much. As many have mentioned already if we want him then we just need to blow them right out of the water with a thumper offer he cannot refuse. How many players do the Giants already have on 6+ year contracts?

Are we sure we want to offer Sam Taylor$16 million over 8 years? I would get that if it were Daicos, Conor rozee or Newcombe but that seems like a dangerous contract.PLAYERCARDSTART15Sam Taylor

We would be stupid to trade our 2024 1st (looks like #3 which would compare to zane duursma last year). We might trade out our 2025 1st for Smith or to get another first this year which i personally wouldn't mind. If we could take in a bad contract from another team for a first round pick (like the Jack bowes trade a few years ago) it would really help our rebuild. Hardwick might leave which could potentially get us a compensation pick like North with McKay, not anything like #3 though. If contracts are increasing with the new tv deal we could afford to pay Sam Taylor a lot, good point. Was listening to Gettable today and they said with the new EBA contracts are going to be like going from Home and Away tv show to Hollywood they are going to be that big a jump.
So if that’s the case the contract we have offered Taylor may not be that big as others will offer just as much.
They also think the 2024 draft at the moment looks like a super draft hopefully we don’t trade out our fist pick.
Also if it is it’s going to be hard to trade in using our 2025 pick to get another first round if we choose to go down this path.
Hardwick leaving? Doubtful. We would be stupid to trade our 2024 1st (looks like #3 which would compare to zane duursma last year). Match-winners, generational players, superstars of the comp, take your pick on the term. None of them are there yet, but they will be.Interesting that you included Sheezel and Reid as 'match-winners' considering their current sides fortunes.
I've also seen enough of Jai Newcombe playing big games at the moment it's most required to know he deserves to be in that discussion.
Day, Newcombe, Watson and Weddle are the ones we'd be expecting to fit that bill to varying degrees.
If it is pick 3, and we’ve only got mids in the top 5, the club might decide we are better off trading that pick or splitting it or any number of options. I think it’s too early to contemplate in any case.We would be stupid to trade our 2024 1st (looks like #3 which would compare to zane duursma last year). No ChanceHardwick leaving? Doubtful.
Good luck finding a player of Hardwicks ability with a second round pickWe would be stupid to trade our 2024 1st (looks like #3 which would compare to zane duursma last year). I know he's good but that's a lot of money for one player.$16 mill over 8 years would make him think hard and long
