Given that he's never kicked more than 12 goals in a season, including seasons where he's played majority forward, I'd say no.I can't help but wonder, as Battle has been described as being able to play at both ends and with Lewis likely out for the majority of the year, does Battle slot into our forward line rather than playing as a back? Would help to address the relatively threadbare KPF whilst also not trying to cause a relatively significant shake up of our defence.
Norf / Saints incoming. Warchest.Tom Morris on SEN this morning has said Bailey Smith and his manager are happy to sit down with anyone willing to offer a six year deal.
Putting aside my Hawthorn allegiances for a moment I really hope for Baz's sake he doesn't go to the GC. IMO there is way to much temptation up there and I could see things ending very badly for him if that is where he was to land.My read on all this Smith stuff is that he isnt that keen on Geelong. He is a city boy who grew up obsessed with Hawthorn remember
Hawthorn and the Pies have cooled on him and so the lazy media have just made assumptions that it only leaves Geelong and because they are desperate for him, its just fits.
When the hawks said recently they are officially after Barrass and it was mutual, you would naturally expect that it would strengthen the Cats chances even more, but instead there is scuttle about GC and now this.
I still hope we find a way, but Im not so sure Geelong is the leading option
This is the exact reason Sam wants Perryman.Hardwick - Barrass - Impey Sicily - Battle - Scrim
CJ plays wing already, Amon can rotate wing/half back, and Weddle can play anywhere. McCabe probably mixes in there soon enough too.
Frost, Blanck, and Serong are depth, Phillips and DGB are unlikely to last on our list. Mitchell, MacDonald, and Ryan small depth.
Good teams have good depth. It’s a good thing.
Cats believed so, but again, that wasnt the caseDon’t think so. Cats believe they were far down the line with him because he’d indicated as such.
That’s not to say they haven’t hit a snag though.
Don't even fix a price....
Until he gets to another side.Don't even fix a price....
Shinbeggers, it's your turn to shine!!!!
Wouldn’t the Dogs just pony up the 6 years then?Tom Morris on SEN this morning has said Bailey Smith and his manager are happy to sit down with anyone willing to offer a six year deal.
Why would you disrupt the Hawks forward line? Gunston needs to be replaced one day (maybe soon) but Mitch Lewis will be back. Bruest needs to be replaced as well but he gets replaced with a small.I can't help but wonder, as Battle has been described as being able to play at both ends and with Lewis likely out for the majority of the year, does Battle slot into our forward line rather than playing as a back? He is 100% leaving the dogsWouldn’t the Dogs just pony up the 6 years then?
Only offered 2.Wouldn’t the Dogs just pony up the 6 years then?
Isn’t this a little bit damning, the club that knows him best only offering 2 and telling him more or less see you later? If he was truly in the Dogs plans you’d make a way to keep him.Only offered 2.
He is overpriced and Im not convinced he is a Hawthorn type player. He is not all that versatile, his disposal is not elite, is he a two way player?, and he is very specific in what he wants - he only wants to be a centre square mid.Isn’t this a little bit damning, the club that knows him best only offering 2 and telling him more or less see you later? I’m always weary of players with a larger celebrity profile than footballing profile, especially when there’s a history of off field issues.
His hair suggests he's choosing geelong. When the times comes, Harley will choose Hawthorn or Geelong… nothing surer.
The most incredible trade period twist this season would be Baz re-signing at the Dogs.
Treloar is 32 by next season - they probably need to keep him. I think the relationship is pretty damaged though. Not really,
I see this as a 50/50 - if they have something reasonable on the table and he has no absolute need to go - they will be around the finals for a few years now with Jamarra and Darcy coming on as forwards and they still have the Bont and a decent midfield so he won't have to do all the heavy lifting (which will be on his shoulders when Danger leaves which would have to be the end of next year if not sooner

Geelong are very confident they have him, so I'm not sure about that.
I reckon this is just Smith's mgmt trying to squeeze a few extra dollars out of the Cats.
To play for Geelong would be strange if his obsessed with Hawthorn, being one of our long time rivals along with Essendon.
But it's different if it's a job rather than a supporter I guess.
