I think the forward line is too tall mostly. Membrey is a short lead up tall-forward. King is a stand under the ball and hope he can find it tall. Coops is the same as Membrey, Snags is an inbetweener. Low pressure, mid sized, not overly defensive or agile.

Butler is high pressure but not overly quick or high energy. Collard gets a few touches a week at VFL level so far. Owens is more a third tall like Membrey and Coops. Pou is more of a mid sized roaming high half forward. Garcia looks like a pressure mid playing pressure forward. Hayes is a hybrid tall who has craft but struggles with consistency.

It looks s**t on paper and it plays how it looks. Even with guys like Wood drifting in it just adds to the aerial mix and has nothing to stop the ball coming out or shark ground ball. I'd almost try Henry as a small forward rather than mid/wing.
Yup. The first game down at Geelong, Henry was causing them issues along the 50 arc forward up to the midfield.

We're too tall because we've prioritised drafting a number of tall(ish) forwards for years so we now try shoehorn them in.

Given our circumstances we just have to suck it up and play Collard every week I reckon. We don't have any other specialist small forward available. Being so unbalanced up forward is way worse than playing the kid as far as I'm concerned.

And yes I watched the Sandy game in the middle of the night whilst I'm overseas and know he would be the winner of a lottery ticket getting a game...

Puts him in Freo's shop window if nothing else though.

Majority of our best players are the under 26 brigade. Can we just focus on them and ONLY target genuine mids in trade or FA.

Would be a nightmare being a forward for us with how slow we can move and how often we butcher the ball going forward.

There's only a handful of players that can actually hit a kick to a lead. I don't know what my man Brad Hill has done but he's kicking skyballs going forward, haven't seen a genuine bullet from him all year.

Dunno the numbers but we get absolutely smashed in clearances every week which means all our forward attacks have to build from half back which means more opportunity for somene to hit up an oppo player with a short 20m kick.

Actually winning some centre clearances and going forward when its 6-6-6 and having a chance at a one on one or being able to lock it in would help with scoring!

Why pay $1.5m to a defender when you can pay it to a midfielder so the ball won't be down in the back half

Dim Sims are no match for Banh Mi
Tyrian....you've made a very very big call there.

The judges have called for a photo.

From where I was sitting......heads were bobbing on the line !!!!!!

I absolutely love a Banh Mi.....but.....if anyone is standing between me and a South Melbourne Market Dimmie....they'd better have gold level health insurance....

Just saying.

;) ;) ;)

No sure at any point I said we trade out all our senior core.

It is equally as mind boggling that people think money all trades and middling draft picks are going to improve us to a top 4 team. I doubt the bulldogs regret trading Ryan Griffen and Callan Ward. Or Collingwood trading Treloar, Grundy and Stephenson. But sure, you are right, making tough decisions doesn’t work.
You’re right, middling draft picks won’t help. Saints will get a top 10 pick for finishing bottom 8 at least. Need to keep Steele, Marshall and Wilkie. None of those players will yield a top 15 pick. Keep Sinclair.

Players like Hayes, Membrey and Ross will yield third rounders at best. Sure, they could be traded out but don’t expect elite talent around pick 50-60.

If we trade out all our season core, you might as well rename the club North Melbourne and you will forever be collecting high end picks, but lack the winning culture and always floundering bottom four.

No chat about this?

it seems we are back to the good old 1980's, when we had a swath of Carlton players come to us.

Not sure why we need another player in defence, thought it was our strong point.
if you listen to the podcast that was ripped from, and no didn't listen to w***er journos backslapping themselves, but after Weitering came McCluggage, LDU and Brayshaw, interesting it came out tbh because 3 days prior Weitering said they had a pact to stay together to

Sweet.

I joined the Banh Mi Appreciation Society on FB, they have some great tips for good ones

Great to see this thread is finally back to the "2024 Trade Thread / Asian Food Guide Thread" axis where it historically belongs.

I've been doing my homework.

Oh yeah - go here for eat in or take away - ****ing unreal.

Mods - StFly - please edit thread title ? :)

Yeah nar. We're already very heavy on kids. We'll be fine.
Yes we are heavy on kids, BUT we lack young elite true mids as part of that mix. We only have young kids we hope can become gun mids.

Pou for example has shown little when played as a mid.

Our lack of true midfield talent has been our key problem since we last made a GF.

I still have never tried one and don’t really know what it is.
If it doesn't have at least 2 types of dodgy vietnamese processed meat and a thick spread of pork pate then its some sort of fusion vietnamese sandwich.

All you need to know

Thanks I might try and make one. Don’t like the sound of pate so I might try this instead.
