disagree on our media team
That wonderful media team that haven't even seen fit to announce Isaac Cumming to the Crows yet?

Not on their website, not on Twitter, not on Facebook, not on Instagram but all over the media everywhere but the club's'media outlets.

That AFC media team?

The "running man" Cooper Hamilton delisted by the Giants, one of the best endurance runners to ever come out of the Combine and a bazooka like boot probably not a need for us but has talent and would be at least decent AFL depth. If not given an AFL lifeline chazwazza and cleanhands mobs should be on the phone.

Maybe with the changes to the SANFL rules maybe the Crows could have a look as he has other great talents we could use in our media department...He's the guy behind some of the great media the Giants have put out over the last couple of years.
With Slimming retiring if sounds like he’d slot in on a wing nicely. We also need to look at our forward line and target a tall forward who can take marks AND KICK F***ING GOALS!!!!

Josh Rentsch has recovered from his ACL and kicked 93 goals for Penshurst in the Mininera and District Football League if your mob still has interest...and he ain't got smaller.

Dont even get me started......Big Connor had a good year but he shouldnt be the #1
Technically he probably isn’t. The issue was that Grivell was injured a large part of the start of the season, then Doyle got injured which kept Burrows up forward all year…he didn’t miss a much or round game. Burrow’s tries hard but didn’t have a good year. By the time finals came around we looked disjointed up forward and that’s not even discussing our forward entries all year. But yes, kicking points not goals is a football sin.

Cumming and ANB, A 26 year old and 29 year old, both quick, both fit list needs, raise our age profile/experience...

Fantastic pickups, especially Cumming if we can get his body right. We desperately need speed and we've picked up two pacey players, I like it..

Add Draper into that mix and we've certainly increased our speed across the park...

Should be a wakeup call for our senior players.... You'd imagine Smith and Murphy will be taking the reigns of the SANFL team...
There's more than one throne? ;)

Thinking about decisions we made around who we wanted as the senior players to guide the club through a rebuild.

It's easy with hindsight now that Laird's form has dropped away to suggest we should have traded while he had some value, and I probably would have been against it at the time, but perhaps we should have had enough information to make that call a few years ago. A senior player who has never been in the leadership group for whatever reason that is and has some trade value is probably exactly who should be identified to ease out. I think if you are going to commit to a rebuild you do do need to actually commit properly and that means getting some extra early picks somehow. We did identify Brad Crouch for this and were probably unlucky not to end up with pick 2 for it, I think that still looks like a decent decision with what we know now.

I think Laird provided value in terms of making us a more competitive side for a few years, and I think it probably is better for development of young players to be playing in competitive games and getting somewhat regular wins rather than playing in a North/West Coast type side. But does that outweigh that maybe we get Finn Callaghan or JHF if we are a bit less competitive? I think you want the list spots saved for senior players in a rebuild to be for guys providing leadership and onfield performance, and maybe leadership should be the more important of the two. If the guys at your club aren't fitting the bill we've seen you can actually get it pretty cheaply from other clubs with guys at the end of their career.

We had Hugh Greenwood whose value to a developing side was so respected that he was poached for that very reason. He wouldn't have been asking for a huge salary and we had little to gain in terms of draft picks in losing him. He was also a big body, and a more defensive sided mid that might have allowed young players coming into the side a bit more of an offensive role. We chose to prioritise Matt Crouch over him at a higher cost in salary and picks we could have recieved and then almost immediately dropped him to the SANFL for years. Would have been a very tough call to make at the time though.

Walker and Sloane have long been identified as key leaders so it made sense to keep them around. I think I've seen on here talk about how Smith was an important social connector between younger and older players and I think that has importance. There was always a lot of talk about how important Eddie Betts was in helping young guys like Cameron and Stengle, maybe he was someone we could have fought harder to keep around a bit longer.

Where do you view Laird playing in terms of position moving forward?

Down back?

Our media department is generally horrendous. Solid but nothing more on the socials, diabolically bad at media messaging and Using the media for positive PR for the club

I would have sacked the whole team multiple times over the years. However they seem to have got on the front foot with the Draper issue and had it addressed quickly - so finally they get a tick on an issue. Hopefully that becomes the norm moving forward but track record suggests not

Carlton lost to us in round 5 because Matt Owies kicked the ground instead of the ball when running into an open goal

Do not want under any circumstances

Kicked 33 goals. Murphy kicked 6. Averages 2.3 tackles v Murphy 3.2 so a bit less defensive pressure. But 33 goals for a small forward is a bloody good return

Soldo to saints surely means Max Heath is looking at his options. We should have a spare senior list spot. Surely we’re targeting Heath or Knobel.
Yeah pay out Strachan & bring in a 2nd ruckman capable of running out an AFL game.

Anyone could replace Murphy... but issue it has shown that coach needs replacing.
Yeah maybe it's a bit of copium, but it's as clear-cut a replacement for Murphy as we've had during his tenure, at least for what Maffew wants from that role, IMO

Though if he moves the magnets to keep Murphy in, I guess I wouldn't be surprised lol

Keen to hear the thoughts from people that watched Sanfl closely this year if Toby Murray could be developed into our next ruck?

After having a chat to my mate in recruiting who scouted Murray for the MSD, he sees him as a potential number one ruck at AFL level. Also said this isn’t a great ruck draft after Dodson (Sydney very keen on him) and that Murray would be better than anyone else after Dodson in this draft pool.

Sydney took Will Green with their first last year, not sure why they'd be looking at another ruck in the first round two years in a row

Probably not going to get a better opinion on here than a scout.
