yeh but we cleary dont want him from their lack of an offer to stay
Rumour was earlier in the year that we offered 2 years, but it's probably similar to what the Suns offered and he'd know he's no chance of getting back into the 22 consistently with us. May as well try a change of scenery to see if he can get better results.

Do you realise the exact same thing was said about Darling and Battle in their Draft years ......it's rubbish

Logan Morris at 191 cm has also proved to be an exciting FWD in his first year at BRIS ...will be playing in a GF
And he's not as quick as Tyler

So have to disagree on all counts ......Welsh has the same attributes as Scotty .....he'll be a good AFL player

You can't just list the handful of exceptions and expect everyone to be those players, for every Jack Darling there's a hundred James Sellars.

Talented tweeners slide for good reasons, even Darling was a second round pick, and I doubt his brief list of off field antics at the end of year 12 had any serious impact.

Welsh won't be playing a KPF role at AFL level...he's a Jake Stringer type forward with similar explosiveness on the lead.

Jake Waterman, Mitch Georgiades, Kyle Langford, Tim Membrey, Cam Zarhuur do alright for tweeners...

James Sellar was legitimate key forward size, hell he even played some ruck.

But Darling made it, Rabbit! As did that tweener Matthew Pavlich! Welsh is strongly built, has explosive pace and a booming kick. He does have desired AFL traits contrary to a prior post of yours.

I think the word "key forward" probably a little outdated.
Lead up, athletic marking forward like those you mentioned is true though.
Equally valuable.

Probably would have Zurharr as more of a medium forward.

i reckon hes going to be a handfull to play on when you're getting defender 5 or 6

Wasn't the problem with Sellar that he was a ruck in a KPF's body?

Welsh will be fine, particularly given he's got the athletic traits

It's not even Grand Final day and we've already added two instant upgrades to our best 22 in ANB and Isaac.

We've got pick 4 and Welsh to come, as well as any other movements we can achieve prior to the draft.

I'm not a huge fan of shifting pick 25 for ANB but this isn't the most depressed I've been with our post-season activity. (Still the most depressed I've been with on field performance but hey, the only way is up)

Different kind of tweener, same basic problem. Borlase is another, if he'd been 198cm he would not have gone to the rookie draft. Ruck in a KPPs body, KPP in a flankers body, midfielder in a child's body (Caleb Daniel).

That players whose skill set don't match their physical attributes are battling uphill from the beginning, and hence they fall down the draft order lower than where any talent evaluation would suggest, is not a controversial statement, if he turns into a handy player it still doesn't change the fact that recruitment teams see tweeners as more of a gamble.

I mean, why else do people think that a player who was spoken about as a top 5 talent in the U16s is now not even being discussed inside the top 30 in draft talk despite his SANFL season?

Sellars biggest problem was legitimate talent.

Can't blame Rendell or Ogilvie for that one...that was all down to James Fantasia.

Zane Duursmaa didn't last year.

Played againt men all year and needs to work on his game a little ??

He'll be fine.

Cumming and ANB, A 26 year old and 29 year old, both quick, both fit list needs, raise our age profile/experience...

Fantastic pickups, especially Cumming if we can get his body right. We desperately need speed and we've picked up two pacey players, I like it..

Add Draper into that mix and we've certainly increased our speed across the park...

Should be a wakeup call for our senior players.... You'd imagine Smith and Murphy will be taking the reigns of the SANFL team...

There is really no reason to be starting Laird too. Outranked in midfield by (at the very least) Daws, Izak, Crouch, Pick 4, Berry & Taylor. Outranked in defence by (at the very least) Hinge, Nank, Max, Cumming & Milera.

how much improvement would there be in everyones mood if murphy was unexpectedly delisted and we took a speculative pick late in the draft with the list spot? mine would ****ing skyrocket.
