Nick also faster and kicked more goals. Obscene he wasn’t 1.
I'm team FOS but heard the other day that Carlton might actually prefer Jagga because of a few reasons including what a young Cody Walker offers which may influence our decision...
*Jagga is considered more of a 'leader' than FOS and the real professional, most eager to improve out of the two.
*FOS more dynamic, hurts more around goal but can go missing in games.
*Cody Walker plays more the FOS style so Carlton may have the longer term lens on by adding Jagga followed by Cody in a couple of years.
Hopefully not. That one was a talentless hack as opposed to the original members of the bandWill they be also be comparing Draper with another legendary Sid?

Leadership and helping making their teammates betterNo, he's worse by foot than Jagga. They'd both be getting selected for more reasons than their kicking talent.
I got Nick as a sub 3 second from somewhere but maybe I was wrongNick Daicos had a 20m sprint time of 3.125. Jagga Smith was 3.038.
I'm pretty sure Smith is more contested, which automatically means less goals. He did improve his damage as the season went on though, so I think that part of his game is coming. He's just more of a playmaker than a finisher.
I don't get this at all. FOS has a 2.98 20m sprint to Draper 2.94 and Draper is lightning. From my viewing FOS is also all about forward running. Very seldom goes backwards. Very attacking mindset from wherever he is on the ground.
But he's got more mongrel in him than art-school Jagger.Hopefully not. That one was a talentless hack as opposed to the original members of the band
For those that haven’t seen it. This is Cody as a 16yo playing first senior game for eventual premiers Echuca (strong league, good quality footballers)
Nick Daicos isn't the second coming of God. Jagga has claims to be number one in a very high quality draft. He'll be amazing, just wait.I really like Jagga, and I think he is a damaging midfielder. But I don't think you can coach a player to have Nick Daicos' kicking. Not a knock of Smith, its like saying a prospect's tank is just bit shy of Nick Reiwoldt's.

Calling it now, different kind of players but he’s gonna be better than Daicos!!
Gonna be more damaging too!! We are gonna have a serious playerDefinitely going to take more contested marks than Daicos.
Unfortunately Walker has inherited his father’s kicking though.Definitely going to take more contested marks than Daicos.
I think he's more along the Cripps, Bont, Fyfe type mould imo. His ball use can be sublime at times and he has a great sidestep but he's just a beast over the ball. The type who can lift with the game on the line and win 3-4 key clearances in a row to give his team the best chance to win. Has natural forward craft too.Cody looks good. He has 2 years to improve his kicking and decision making though.
Could our No 1 locker read:
Silvagni
Walker

So similar to Andrew. Moves like him, built like him, marks likes him, unfortunately kicks like him lol (gets more penetration though).Cody looks good. He has 2 years to improve his kicking and decision making though.

Nick can maintain his top sprint speed for longer throughout a game than almost every other player in the league - freak.Nick Daicos had a 20m sprint time of 3.125. Jagga Smith was 3.038.

The fact is that only one of those topliners is going to a current contender. Carlton are the bonus club in this draft. Usually they have to graft away for several years until finals.
I'd say North are set to rise though, so probably better them than Richmond at the moment.
Yes, I agree with this entirely. If we select him, I'll back him like I did Troy Menzel until the day he left, but he's giving me Menzel vibes. And by this, I mean he screams the player who has everything, but has nothing.I still cannot understand why FOS is rated highly.
He is undersized as a mid (182cm), not particularly fast, and his movements look very Dow-esque to me (nice side step in traffic, but no burst forward). His stats went backwards from last year to this, and aside from kicking 5 goals in 4 games are underwhelming, particularly compared with other prospects.
He also had two injuries this year and seemed to struggle with those.
His 'best attributes' seem to translate badly to me. 'Stoppage craft' but he's not a accumulator? Overhead marking, but he's 182cm? Goal-kicking, but mostly when playing forward (where he doesn't get the ball).
He strikes me as exactly the sort of player we (and other teams - not just us) have whiffed on in the past. Has good athleticism, but doesn't really have a core AFL skillset and just doesn't translate up.
I'm no expert, but from what I've seen I'd rather Draper or Smith, and probably also Langford. In all 3 cases it's clear what they will be at AFL level. Draper is fast, a little hectic but he'll get the ball and add pace. Smith just gets the footy, a lot - he's a slightly different version of Walsh. Langford could be Dan Houston or similar.
Given we've traded next year's first as well as our own to get this, I really hope we just take the safe option. Throwing any of those guys into a finals calibre team where they can learn the craft as a part of a midfield that already features Cripps/Walsh/Hewett/Cerra to do the heavy lifting seems a no-brainer and a great way to keep our midfield sustainable post-Cripps etc.
