I know people are allowed to do whatever they want in their private time. But I am a bit stunned at hearing posters who declare that their other half support *.

I mean… have whatever peccadillos you like. But in what sort of a sick world is shacking up with an * fan not a bridge too far?

Is that the 1st question you ask at speed dating?

Hi my name is arr0w, I'm tone deaf, my favourite colour is navy blue, who do you support in the footy?

We were so bloody inaccurate that day... Charlie had only kicked 4 behinds by ht...

Our final score was 6.16, 5+ behinds in the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarter.

We owned the 2nd quarter but just couldn't put it through the big sticks...
More from that match:

  • no Fog or Cuners
  • Martin played only 1/2 match first game back
  • Lewis Young owned by 2MP to the tune of 5 goals

Bereft of confidence.

Still..they are much improved and their form stacks up closely to ours. Let’s not get too comfy here, A game needed to win this one

Honest question and not winding. Do you really think Bombers have no good players despite sitting second, and drawing with Pies, beating Giants, beating Crows away. They also did much better than us against Sydney away.

Yes, they have had a run of easier matches. Beating doggies is probably worthless but when we come up against the doggies, I will be stressing it unless their injuries stay the same.
I didn't forget Langford, yes he's one of their top few (but he wasn't in the list I put up nor was Jones as KL was seemingly injured all game then subbed out and had zero impact).

Would love Langford in our team.

I was looking at the better performed players from yesterday's game..

Let's look at Martin, Guelfi and Perkins?

Martin:

Hard to argue with these numbers - give you that, yet....:

Matt Guelfi:

Small forward? Never been sure where he fits in...

He's played 40 more games that Matt Owies (same age) and career comparison don't flatter MG.

Perkins:

Granted only 22 and 70 odd games.... and his numbers are improving, but really?

As a 3rd, 4th tall? Not overly tall, not overly quick, not blessed with super footy smarts (that i've seen as yet)...

Don't see it. But OOC this year. Will Austin have a crack?

$20 says no.

Jones:

Lot of injury issues, he wouldn't get a gig presently.

What ignorant prick doesn’t know who Dom Ketoning is?!
Ah yes, Dom Ketoning, looking forward to seeing him alongside Alex Chingotta and Patrick Helgas.

Staggering.

I'm surprised you think what i wrote was actually controversial tbh- clearly you dont watch Essendon play much- I do.

Jones/Martin and Langford walk into Carlton's starting 22. Durham is playing better than Hewett as permanent on baller. Guelfi is a proper small forward with bags of tricks and a ton of leg speed easily better than any at Carlton - Merret is a gun and Parish isnt far behind unlike Walsh both these blokes know how to kick a ball to advantage of their team mates.

People comment about Essendon only having beaten a lot of poor teams- but teams can only play as to fixture. They drew with Collingwood in a seriously big game on Anzac Day - which is a better result than Carlton was able to achieve. I think they were unlucky to lose against Suns at Metricon - their test will get harder from here - hopefully starting this Sunday against Carlton - but who knows what Carlton will front up for this game- I dont.

I am sure Voss and co are not disrespecting opposition anywhere near what I read on here in chest puffery forum posts that are more often than not followed up by rants during game threads.

* looked shit against GCS

We smack them Sunday

Did you watch them yesterday?

They were bog ordinary.

GC didn't even play that well frankly. Nowhere near their best....

I agree partially, but also thought there were good in patches. They were wasteful in front of goal, including some that fell short or went out on the full. Would have been a different story if some of those goals were converted.

Not saying * will beat us, just don't think it'll be an easy win. Both teams will definitely lift, but they'll kick probably straight and some spud will step up and dominate.

Guelfi is horrid. Just having a purple patch where he looks half decent, often against poor opposition. Has the footy IQ of a wet mop (a direct quote I heard from someone who is now an AFL recruiter). Parish is Nick Graham with cache because he was a high draft pick, potentially a worse kick than Graham too. Merrett and Langford are very good players, Merrett especially.

Martin is one of the worse ball users in the AFL, despite what the media tells us. He has the odd moment of lacing out a 50 metre pass to a leading forward, then kick 4 out on the full in one quarter. Jones is okay, and Durham is much improved, but not at Hewett’s level at all. Have no doubt he’ll be a jet though

I agree

I appreciate your rational, logical and measured assessment of *’s games

I too am generally rational, logical and measured

However, when it comes to * I choose to set aside my considered self

* are shit, were absolutely shit against GCS, and will be diarrheal on Sunday night

Harry definitely gives off the big brother vibes...seems a bit more confident and as you said, seems to give Ben sh1t pretty often.

Was taken earlier in the draft too...if they play on each other Big H just might have the mind games advantage.

But younger siblings seem to know what buttons to push if they are like my kids

This is a very dull post. Not
sure why you are giving * any credit. If you truly believe what you speak, it's probably best left unsaid. I can tell you exactly the team that will
Show up...a carlton team ready to dominate this shit stain of a club that you seem to rate.

Yeah, it's going to be tougher than some think.

Still super confident we will be too strong for them.

So because we dislike them, we have to turn this thread into an echo chamber where we try to convince ourselves that they're shit?
Nah, differing perspectives is one of the great things about Bigfooty.

Read my preview, friend. All will be clear.

This season is Essendon's version of our 2022. They probably will not miss finals but you can see they are building Players like Jones and Cox have not even touched the surface of their potential. So let's make hay while the sun shines

Jury still out on Cox for me. He's an in-between player. Too tall to be a proper wing and not good enough in the air to be a key pos player.

Decent prospect but averaging 12 pos this season. At 22 that's not great progression.

Plus he spells his name Nik. WTF.

They gave us Saad for Reid who hasn't fired a shot. So sad.

Not really interested in wasting air on this....and I watch enough.

Langford - 100% agree. The type of player JSOS should try to emulate....

Martin - maybe, but personally, a no from me.

Jones - a small body of evidence to work from and obviously medical due diligence, it's an unlikely from me.

Guelfi is a proper small forward with bags of tricks and a ton of leg speed easily better than any at Carlton.

ROFL.

We were never talking about Parish or Merrrett.

Go Blues.

If we bring 100% effort like last week we will win comfortably. The injectors just aren’t in the same league in terms of physicality and quality.

They’ve had an easy run so far and have ended up high up on the ladder out of luck of the draw.

Our players don’t have it in them but I’d love our players to rough em up a bit too while we are at it.

I think you are being very unreasonable as you just can’t help what you’re attracted to.

Some people like blonds, others like brunettes but even the Essendon Rangas deserve to be loved….

I will raise you, Bewick…

Get that picture out of your head…
Nice try, goreds. I mean, you could have tried Gary Moorcroft as well. All of them sum up Essendon to me.

But I started following VFL in the 80’s. Ezard will always stand above all the rest of them in my mind as tipifying all that * stands for.
