Effort was good given the circumstances but I cant pass them on that, given what we have served up over the past 2 months to get us to this point. Just needed to find a way to win, particularly given the position we were in with minutes to go. Almost identical to 2022.

That said, even though a win would have been nice it wouldnt have changed the fact we have bottled this season and blown a great opportunity at a flag. Finishing 8th, watching Vossy carry on like we are heroes and then getting belted by Brisbane at the Gabba wouldnt be much fun.

Now we can take a long hard look at ourselves and go again.

Not proud of the "effort."
Not numb at the loss.
We've played like shit for 2 months.
We've beaten only Nth Melbourne and West Coast in 2 months.
I can't believe that people are gutted.
Even if Freo lose its a nothing finals appearance.

Good to see that Lord, Binns, Carroll and Moir were given a go in the last couple of weeks.

There's a few that I don't wanna see in a Carlton jumper again.
Big off season coming up.

Of course it's on him. You don't miss a goal to seal the game from 25 metres out
I wont say what i wanna say but you are entitled to your opinion.

Enjoy your evening.

Kids, no kids. Today reinforced our brand to the wider AFL community. Today is our brand because it is about moments and nothing else. Our big moments are calamity.

Sometimes you have to sink your teeth into the lemon of life. Carlton the club doing its best to suck the enjoyment of watching footy over a full 23 years.

The Pies match and this one. There isnt anything more gleeful for opposition supporters.

These coaches, and perhaps this senior coach, ain't got it

That 2023 finals campaign has given Voss too many credits. Fact is, what's changed since he blew Brisbane up?

Watch injuries and Andrew Russell get scapegoated. If that becomes the case, Brian Cook will you answer for the investigation you held into the fitness department last year citing no issues?

Absolutely inexcusable result to the season. We're burning another window. There's got to be some more accountability beyond just Andrew Russells head

Re: Moir

Anyone who has watched him this year knows he is long way from getting through 4 quarters. He’s a kid that barely played last year and had no pre season

Club has slowly built him up and it’s working. Credit to the kid as his fitness is improving all the time

A big pre season is now needed. Big picture
Not disagreeing soapy, but should’ve been on earlier & for a diff player

Some will blame injuries, others will lament close loses and bad misses in front to goal. But ultimately we can never be a genuine contender with a playing style purely dependant on contested footy. It's what all the analysts say, and it is evident in our results. We've looked inconsistent throughout Voss' tenure and far from a top 4 finish.

Anyone putting this loss on Kemp is a clown.

This. Bad miss but so many easy opportunities missed earlier in the game.

Also, we only had to close it out defensively for 30 seconds.

The two things that hurt us all season is what haunted us today.

Why hasn't Voss played the kids? Ran the players into the ground during the season, the kids showed what they can do in the last two games, but Voss the genius knows it all.
I think they would be worried about the younger players having ability to compete physically (fitness and strength wise) for four quarters which is probably fair enough.

This is worse than 2022 because of how far down we fell from 7 weeks ago when we had our first loss against the Giants when we were 6 points clear of third place

And also worse because we lost two close games to the Pies and then the final nail in the coffin in the last 15 seconds in the final round

Also worse because we had so many close losses during the season against good teams

And also worse because we could have won with 3 minutes to go and also we hit the goalposts a few times from very gettable shots

Exactly.

Fellow Carlton tragics - let’s rejoice in one fact. At least our football team brings so much joy to so many people. There are people celebrating all over Melbourne with this loss. My close friends are reveling in our torment. Let’s take some solace from that. From their perspective we are the club that just keeps on giving.
