Do we really think it's the coach that wins the game? Personally there are 23 players controlling the outcome. Yes coaches obviously impact games but even the accused racist, actual sniper had the team of the century at his disposal at the hawks. Looks pretty average these days at north

But he’s saying the opposite- that coaches can lose games - which is true

They may not be able to fix problems and get their teams to beat better teams but they can cause problems and cause their teams to lose games they shouldn’t

Also Saints do move from 5th to 7th pick in the draft if they win (and if their comp is high enough that could be picks 5 and 6 instead of 7 and 8) - plus a tougher draw in 2025 - so Lyon may not intentionally throw the game but could be a bit more passive - who knows how he will assess it but he’s more calculating than most

But what would SOS say? That he can still get almost as good or even the same player they want at pick 7 as pick 5? Or that the draft will drop off a little after pick 5 (including Ashcroft etc) so would be handy to get 5?

Probably not much.
Maybe just mention he'd be happy with 5 if that's how they end up.

Knowing SOS, he could turn #5 into two picks, say #7 plus a late first round pick. SOS and probably Lyon, wouldn’t see the sense in giving up pick 5 and the potential opportunity of generating 2 first round picks imo.

Currently Geelong on 112.24 percent. If Fremantle win 101-80. 21 points then port finish on 112.21 percent. So not even 4 four goals.
