I know they have ample HB replacements for Houston, but it's surely gotta hurt if neither of Perryman or Cumming get there

Ample? I would’ve thought the finals series showed how much they struggled to move the ball without their two best kickers and ball carriers. I can’t imagine Port fans are happy to be losing one of their best players and not replacing him with anyone.

We need something ! What happens if ROB gets injured

proper russian roulette until we draft and develop our next good one
I'm not disagreeing it's been a bugbear of nine for years, ideally we move Strachan and chase a Max Ramsden type as well as a late/rookie pick like Flynn Penry to bring along slowly as the future.

Can't see us being in th Dodson range even with our 2nd pick this year and it's sure as hell going to be most difficult to trade up to a pick that lands him.

Next year Cooper Duff-Tytler or Louis Emmett will go high I'm anticipating.

We targeted Cumming as a FA -

We targeted ANB as a trade
He walked to us.
We targeted Luko as a trade - miss

When we missed Luko the club said they will now turn there attention elsewhere.

List Mgt had planned to have enough list spots to bring these three players in by trade or FA.

This leads me to think we are still targeting another trade.

Thoughts ?
You cannot target anyone this late. Good clubs have the pieces in hand long before this

Ample from a quantity perspective I guess. Evans and Burgoyne (and maybe Sinn) should continue to improve

That said, they'll be missing a true primary user off HB at least for the next year or two, while those guys develop. Not good for their contending status

Richards and Lord will swap direct trade

they getting luko but losing more.

port: guess what luko youre going to HB. but but you said, yeh we just said that to get you to **** the crows

They have coverage at half back. Evans was good, Burgoyne developing, Bergman and Farrell.
They will be spewing if they miss Perryman as that would have been a great outcome for them

Now they essentially lose Houston for Luko. Maybe pick up a second rounder, maybe give up their F1 for pick 11/12 this year

But it is early days - look at the roller coaster for Adelaide win the last 72 hrs

Why not?

They're very different midfielders stylistically.
Stylistically different yes but I think they both primarily excel as that defensive midfielder. Ultimately how much midfield time can we afford to Berry if Dawson, Izak, Soligo, Crouch, Pick 4, Taylor and (hypothetically) Peatling are ahead of him?

Hopefully Dawson won't be needed to do the bullocking work inside and can be utilised where he can do the maximum damage with his elite boot. Dawson really started to look like he was struggling at times and even that elite boot went missing a lot later in the season. He looked gassed. Use our major weapons where they do the most damage.

Great point. My other concern would be there’s only space for one more trade target unless we ship someone like Berry off and we’d once again be leaving our rucks in a dire position.

Youve gotta have depth

There wouldn't be back pedalling, No club can really commit to anything to far out. You can talk range but everyone understands that nothing is locked in.

I also doubt we were blindsided by the Luko decision.
Imagine the look on Twomey's face if pick 25 for ANB does not happen and its not the first deal done in trade week😁😉

My mate in recruiting is adamant Draper would’ve been a clear number one this draft without the injury. The fact that six clubs still have him number one on their draft board despite the injury shows how highly he’s rated. If he gets to pick 4 (I think the Eagles will take him), then I would be shocked if he isn’t called by Ogilvie.
