I'm happy to get one. Just not at pick 12.

You wouldn't use that pick to trade for a ruck, would you? There's maybe three rucks in the league worth that.
I like Dodson, but I’m kinda the same, especially if it’s for our F1 straight up

I’ve got my eye on Xavier Lindsay at that pick. Run all day, athletic, skilled wing that has played mid for Gippy, too

Yes, totally agree ....Cook showed huge improvement this year, it's starting to click for him ......Pedlar, the kick in the pants last year he needed ....he would be aware of all the talent coming onto the list, a big motivation for him
Brayden has been on our list for 4 years. This year he spent a little more time on the wing than previous seasons when he was predominantly played as a forward.

2021; 3 matches, 14 disposals per game, no goals
2022; 8 matches, 10.5 disposals per game, 3 goals
2023; 1 match, 16 disposals per game, no goals
2024; 15 matches, 9.3 disposals per game, 12goals

Lachie Murphy in his fourth season;
2021; 15 matches, 11.7 disposals per match, 9 goals.

Could Brayden become the next Lachie Murphy?

Last thing we need is a WING .....last thing we would be doing is using #12 on a wingman

A mobile Ruck trumps a Wingmen ....particularly when there are plenty on our list already

If you don't think we look at List needs / balance .....then you're naive

Chalk & cheese roles

Okay. List maths.

At this point in time we have 4 vacant list spots pretty much confirmed (Sloane ret. and 3 OOC senior list players who IMO would have been re-signed already if staying) Smith at this point in time has a contract as he said himself he hit a trigger. Until the club comes out and says otherwise, in this scenario he is contracted.

Out: In:
Sloane --> ANB
Gollant --> Cumming
Himmelberg --> Pick 4
McHenry --> Welsh

Hamill --> Turray
Parnell --> Rookie pick

So we're 1 draft pick short. We just delist a contracted player (eg. Smith) and re-rookie them.

Out: In:
Sloane --> ANB
Gollant --> Cumming
Himmelberg --> Pick 4
McHenry --> Welsh
Smith --> Draft pick 3

Hamill --> Turray
Parnell --> Smith

Burgess may be uncontracted, or getting delisted, which negates the Smith move.

Out: In:
Sloane --> ANB
Gollant --> Cumming
Himmelberg --> Pick 4
McHenry --> Welsh
Burgess --> Draft pick 3

Hamill --> Turray
Parnell --> Rookie pick

If we're getting Peatling, it gets complicated. We need to move Keane to the Senior list and another contracted player to the rookie list OR delist and pay out a senior player to get the extra draft pick and Keane stays on the rookie list.

If Burgess is uncontracted, we just de-list and re-rookie Smith.

With Burgess contracted
Out: In:
Sloane --> ANB
Gollant --> Cumming
Himmelberg --> Pick 4
McHenry --> Welsh
Smith --> Peatling
*Player x --> Keane or Draft pick 3

Hamill --> Turray
Parnell --> Smith
*Keane --> Player x

With Burgess uncontracted
Out: In:
Sloane --> ANB
Gollant --> Cumming
Himmelberg --> Pick 4
McHenry --> Welsh
Burgess --> Peatling
Smith --> Draft pick 3

Hamill --> Turray
Parnell --> Smith

Pick 12 discussions get EVEN MORE complicated, and I genuinely wish the club would just release their delistings so there could be some sort of clarity. But the only way for us to get pick 12 is to delist someone as well as Burgess with a contract.

No just Saints dropping out was mentioned on radio as I was driving. May have even been trade radio but was definitely reported inc Crows were now an interested party
OR Peatlings camp crossing St Kilda off the possibles list ?

No, cos Cook is good when he gets the ball. He just... is a bit too weak in a contest and also can't get it enough.

Pretty much he has to be best 22 next year... or that's it for him. I'm bullish.

Similar statement for Pedlar I guess, just different problems.

The good news for both of them is that the bottom 5 or so players in our 22 are fairly trash, so they could easily be well entrenched if they can live up to their talent.

Last thing we need is another athletic runner with skills? Don’t make me start on our ball movement again, Wayne

Like I said, I’m a Dodson fan. I’d be comfortable taking him if we had the pick means without giving up our F1. I just think there’s more cost-effective ways to draft a decent ruck

Sam Darcy isn't a ruck. What are you talking about??
He probably means Sean Darcy (I think you know that) who I just happened to rate highly even though you're mate Sanders heaped shit on me for quite a while....Safe to say I had the last laugh.

But how much time does he get ??

Clock is ticking.
He was described as very green when drafted .....he's looked lost the last couple of years, found it hard to get possessions

In 2024 Cook looked to finally get it .....played more FWD than Ciao Giacomo is suggesting, but roamed up to the Wing and back

Looked fitter and more confident in 2024 ....what's his ceiling, we'll know more at the end of next season

The bad news is, there will be about 2 to 4 players going or have gone past Cookie.

Pedlar might be one of them.

Yup

It's a huge year for him. If he can't progress again this year he might be in trouble.

Xavier Lindsay is much much much more than a wingman, he's a genuine Utility that can play half back/wing/midfield with an elite tank and a precise kick.

I still can’t fathom him being rated as low as 18 by Twomey

It’s Darcy Wilson all over again
