In 2 years time North could have the best midfield in the competition. I think they will be able to add KPP without too many issues.

I think North are rebuilding well as drafting midfielders is less risk, unlike the crows who draft either KPP or small forwards with our top picks and looks likely to be a potential 50% strike rate.

7 years into a rebuild and we have IMO only one drafted midfielder that may come close to the quality of McKercher, Sheezel or Wardlaw.

We should of rebuilt the engine first.
It hasn't worked for North or Port Power and Sydney to an extent. Both got exposed despite having quality midfield but nothing at either end except Sydney's forward and back is better than Port Power's so they smashed them in the PF.

We did, and then the Suns did something even worse.

One of the more baffling list decisions in recent memory.

He actually spoke about this on the radio today. Apparently he only mentioned his desire to leave for Brisbane to Dew after the trade period had ended, so the only way to facilitate the move was via a delisting. Perhaps that's just the polite story, but I thought it was interesting.

I’m not sure GWS would be willing to help us out if we steal two of their players
It would be helping themsleves out.

Berg* and insert pick here for Peatling. Cumming signs as a FA and GWS get the band 2/3 compo. Rather than signing Berg as a FA and making the band 2/3 more likely a 3/4.

*Assuming Berg is interested in going to GWS rather than GC

We have no control over what Himmelberg does, he's an Unrestricted Free Agent. There's literally no contract to hold him to.
This is true, but GWS may request to do a trade instead of taking him via FA - if doing so means that they don't lose their Cumming compensation. It all depends on what works out better for them.

I'm excited for the potential of whats happening currently

How many we get across the line remains to be seen

But for me the real test of the success of this period is how many games Murphy gets in 2025 .
So Murphy playing all games coinciding with a flag = FAIL? ;-)

Salary isnt the issue game time is

Salary/contract length is the issue for Peatling, the whole 'more opportunities' thing is overblown, he's clearly broken into GWS' starting midfield now.
Since r17, attended 3rd most centre bounces behind Tom Green and Bedford: 49% CBA overall; played 70% of game time in midfeld; 24% forward (tagged Zorko in semi-final)
(source, a News Corpse article, which notes: 'His work rate was regularly praised by Kingsley as the Giants put together a strong run to end the year. Importantly, he has been rewarded for finally taking his midfield opportunities with both hands.'

Think we have reached the point where these players got games coz of lack alternatives.

We have improved our drafting and trading position since 2020 (Tilthorpe, Rachele, Michalanney and Curtin in the first rounds 2020 - 2023) and as each year progresses we are getting better depth.

Murphy has a contract for 2025 but I’d be shocked if he doesn’t end up on the rookie list for 2026.
Delisted end of 2025. 99.9%

Peatling isn’t a free agent. If he comes to us we would need to trade with GWS.

That trade wouldn’t impact on FA compo for GWS.
But Berg is so it would effect the GWS compensation so they may choose to trade instead of picking him up as an UFA

Thought for sure Port were going to get one of Perryman or Cummings.

Losing Houston is going to really hurt them.
And then use those salary to overpay for Lukosius with a few more years, I don't think it's the rumour 7 years at $1M but 7 years at $850K which is the offer Perryman rejected. They could have used some of those salary for Houston but instead will need to trade for Lukosius with a 1st rounder they get from Houston as they are clearly desperate for Lukosius given their offer.

Perryman to the Pies would lead you to believe Port will hold Houston right?
Houston would be pissed with the money they've offered Perryman and Lukosius, he didn't look too happy when he request the trade to VIC after his exit meeting and the same day Lukosius request the trade to Port Power.

Probably because he was outing himself as a liar

Port Power board already lamenting their “soft forward line” in 2025 with Marshall, Luko, Finlayson and Mitch G. None of them are crash and bash players like TT. Even The Fog and Tex are much harder than anyone of that quartet.

Imagine giving uo your 3/4th best player for Luko…Please let that happen
