So Port, if you break it down, ended up with a Dangerfield type trade for Houston, 13, 29 & Atkins (1st, 2nd and fringe player). They then essentially paid F1 for Lukosius, Richards and a few later pick upgrades.

HAHAHAHA
Not a bad deal apart from Atkins. GC not paying any of Luko's salary are they.

I said it this morning. They saw the absolute melts from their fans and had to make a big show of rejecting the deal. Their PR machine couldn't take a hit like that. That's why the article released had them "threatening to send Houston to North" as if they had any say in that.

Houston never publicly said where he wanted to go because it gave Port "leverage." They could demand the world because he didn't care where he went. And the port faithful slurped up the kool aid like they always do.

Last night's deal was ALWAYS going to be the deal, too much work had been done. And Port got pick 50 in as if that's actually going to satisfy anyone.

Reality bites, I guess.

So what actually changed with this deal vs the one Port backed out of last night? I thought Ratkins was the sticking point, but apparently not?

Port melts are going to be next level

So much social media assuming that their board hero in Tredders blocked the trade last night - only for the trade to go through today with only pick 50 added

This is ****ing gold

According to the ITK poster on Port’s forum, pick 50 was always involved and that was just missed in the release last night. The board never intervened.

They also traded Houston to the club that beat them to Perryman, a player they had chased for 4 years and were planning on replacing Houston 🤣

Imagine if Perryman and Houston tear Port apart next year when they play Collingwood....

will ferrell omg GIF

Port receive pick 50 from GC.

Quite possibly some changes made to the parts of the deal which aren't made public - who pays how much of which players' 2025 & 2026 salaries.

Except in the Dangerfield case, we were forced to trade because he was desperate to leave. Whereas they pushed Houston out the door!

This really smells like Port pushing out a contracted player and failing on two fronts
  1. Assumed they would get a free agent in to replace him, effectively banking the draft picks and getting a free acquisition in the same role. They failed to get the free agent
  2. Assuming Houston would attract big currency on the open market, but Houston chose the one club with the least available trade assets. So they failed to sell a contracted player for overs
