Did West Coast just get Swicked?

Confused Joe Biden GIF by CBS News

Don Pyke: "Its not going to be popular with everyone"
Reality: "Its not going to be popular. With EVERYONE"
If they had traded Barrass for Hawthowns pick 14 at the start of trade week, they could have just shipped that direct to Richmond for Baker. Owies OOC and could have got done for a 2nd or 3rd rounder surely and they keep pick 3 and end up with almost what they have now (obviously the Barrass part is different, but keeping pick 3 is the biggie)

So are we really not trying to get any other players? No other moves?

Like... just 2 weeks of sitting there trying to figure out how to get Peatling for a future 2nd or 3rd or whatever?

Like, what are the productivity metrics of those involved in this? I want that job, man. Like... just rest up for 1.5 weeks and do a day of work, delegate the paperwork to the work experience kid... kick back in the hotel.

Shit, I'm going to send an unsolicited application.

I had a few reservations about Don, based upon my time on this board and seeing the damage that was done to your club (well aware he was not solely culpable).

He made a reasonable start, but this has been a major fail and has lost a lot of goodwill now.

Even the “casual”/bandwagoner and (majority) club can do no wrong crowd on Facebook have lost their minds 😂

The club was interested in Reid for the list manager role, shame we couldn’t get him, I don’t think he would have advocated for this.

Hell yeah. We walk away from this trade period with:
Cumming
Peatling
ANB
Retain pick 4
Possibly keep an entire suite of future picks (if GWS accept a trade of F2 + F3 for Peatling and F2 OR 2 c F3 for Peatling)
Welsh at the back end of the draft

We have done very very well

Are you any good at slamming your laptop shut and storming out of a cafe ??

We only have a limited number of list spots. We brought in 3 solid players while keeping our pick 4 and F1. It's not super-sexy, but it is a very solid trade period.

This is likely to be important in the longer-term, given the sheer number of players we have coming out of contract in 2025 who are highly unlikely to be given new contracts for 2026 and beyond.

Maybe / Maybe not, we will be able to bring future picks into next years draft so if we are short, we can trade more in or trade out a fringe player for picks etc. lots of ways to generate lower end picks if we want them.

I'm assuming we try for a big fish trade/FA next year (LDU, NWM, Phillipou etc) and then supplement the list with some late picks/rookies. Maybe we trade up for a Sharp. Hard to see fewer than 5 outgoings next year.

Its often laughed at on here, but its happened.

Every year thjere are trades that happen that are far stranger than any of the "Playstation trades" suggested by posters.

I'm sure no one has missed me not bothering to post possible trades, but I don't really do it because it was annoying to have people shitting on very plausible trades, when what actually happens is much weirder.

Stop treating your fans like idiots! Everyone knows you don’t want Stringer, there is no scenario he’s walking back into the club. The contract is irrelevant!

Is he contracted? I thought an extension was triggered, I wouldn't have thought that would be binding on the player, given it's a fixed salary offer. I would have thought it is a right that the player may or may not exercise.

A few little snippets of draft info that I got this morning:
  • Eagles got wind of North showing strong interest in Draper at pick 2, so decided to drop back to get a couple of established players and still be able to take local midfielder Bo Allan at pick 12 (Freo are keen on a key forward so shouldn't be an issue)
  • Melbourne very keen on Tauru at 5 or 9
  • FOS to Carlton
  • Langford or Lalor to Richmond
Possible draft order now:
  1. Lalor
  2. Draper
  3. FOS
  4. Smith
  5. Tauru
  6. Langford
  7. Smillie (a chance to drop out of the top 10 too)
  8. Reid

Look you two, I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it's BORING.
