So much this

Houston is 28 next year.
Makes sense for him to prioritize Carlton over us.
Then again look at Zorko running around at half back at his age so there’s every chance he’ll be playing finals in a couple of years anyway and we tend to keep players around well into their 30’s.

Let’s not get upset because he dares prefer a club in contention right now.
Players like Houston will get us off the bottom of the table.
And give us credibility.

I’m pretty pleased we’re getting back into these races. You can tell the tide has turned already.

Isn't that Aiden McCartney?

He's another NMFC father son in their academy. They are taking the piss, these blokes.
If a father of a son has played 100 games or more and the son is in any academy, he has the choice of sticking with the academy or going to the club where his father played, under father/son.

Aiden … Look at what happened to Nick in the GF. That was the “karma” bus for not going with your father’s team!

Which is absolute rubbish. The academy benefits from having a talented kid, and pseudo extra coach for the father, they didn’t save them from being lost to the game.

Its sort of the scenario the acadamies claim a kid wouldnt be exposed to afl if wasnt for them.

But we all know that a kid whos dad played 100 games would be lost to the game if it wasnt for an academy.

I’ll hold fire for now, but gee wiz if we go into 2024 with small forward options of Payne, Hansen and no one else, it is negligent.
The number one priority this off-season has to be drafting elite KPF and small forwards, surely.

Might want to wait until end of the rookie draft. Who's to say we don't pick up one of Berry/Hannaford/Alger/Bradley/Dattoli in the draft and rookie a Jay Dalhaus. The overreaction to Thursfield's comment is laughable.

I'm not a Dan Houston hater, but I am not fussed if he doesn't make it here, given his age and how much it will cost.
