I don’t know, it’s entirely possible for Josh to be a little or a lot disgruntled without it being widespread or the club really even knowing.

I don’t know Josh other than some anecdotes from others but he seems like a wonderful young man who wouldn’t bad mouth the club even if he was pissed off so in reality none of woukd know

No, I’m not suggesting that he is or isn’t but I can’t catagorically say either way and nor can you.

You speak like an authority on most stuff in spite of really having no more insight than anyone else on here but you just flat out don’t know anything about this.

You stating he absolutely isn’t disgruntled is as dumb as anyone saying he is, we all have no ****ing idea.

The F/S and Academy picks make zero difference, except to the number associated with the draft position we get awarded. None of those F/S or Academy players are available to us, so there is a pool of players available to us, and it is irrelevant if an Academy player of F/S gets taken before our pick or not!

If we get pick 2, and 5 academy or F/S picks get taken before our pick 2 it becomes pick 7. But all the same non-academy and non-F/S players are still available to us, other than the player that was taken at pick 1..........

Get your point, but if you finish 2nd last, you should get the 2nd best kid in the country. Period. So in that way it does make a difference.

To Battle or not to Battle? This is the question.
Whether 'tis nobler in the mud of this forum to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous accusations…think about it.

Surprised we're not going better with such good list management TBH.

Too early to know. Most teams who are resetting, will go backwards and sideways, before they get a sustained up period. So it really is too early to know.

The ones who get it right then go upwards. Some leke the Cats do it better, or the Swans. Historically we have done it worse.

We are still very much at the resetting stage, and moreso as we are bringing in a lot of youth. The more youth teams bring in, the longer the climb normally takes.


Whether we actually can climb high enough remains to be seen.

This draft /trade formula would seem to be a repeat of last year's period except that we may have two earlyish picks.

So that would mean no established guns would join us before the 2026 season (if we actually can land one or more).

Hawks have reset, but are now from this coming period chasing FA's and better players through trades again.

If it’s not for money, it’s because he’s not happy and/or we are shithouse.
I’ve heard he wants to stay at the saints before so if that has changed maybe it’s not a great vibe at Moorabbin.

Everyone said the same thing about Freo with JLO after losing something like 7-10 players in a few off seasons, look at them now.

We’ve got to accept there’s going to be some level of change and regeneration with this list before it picks back up.

I really doubt it happens that clean and clear but we have to retain him OR get band 1.

Any other outcome is a complete failure.

Beat that offer to ensure we keep him.

Again, I’m fine with a one year drop, there was always a chance it would happen and AGAIN it’s not all on Ross, we’ve had injuries and form and other bits and pieces but everyone continually pointing to the list saying it’s shit, we can’t be good until it’s rejuvenated or refreshed or whatever other buzz word you want. We were supposedly close last year, just lacking one or two pieces, now all of a sudden the whole list is shit.

It’s just excuses.

we need to rejuvenate the midfield. thats has been stated ad nauseum from the club since the review

You can stuff up one top 5 pick but surely you can’t miss on two in a row. Hit on both of them and we’re potentially set for the next decade.

The guy that picked them couldn’t even get pick 1 right, and also butchered a pick 3 so was never going to get pick 7 and 8 right. I’m putting in the faith that we don’t have one of the worst recruiters in history currently at the club like we did then. The picks would be a bit earlier as well which helps.

For the record I don’t think anyone would be stupid enough to pay Battle enough for a pick after ours but if someone is silly enough to do it we’d be mad not to let him go. He’s an ok third tall, we don’t need to start overrating him just because he’s OOC.
