I mean, we might offend them with that lowball offer.

How in hell is that offer anywhere near the Richmond offer?
Even our 8 and F1 would not be enough.

The final point gets me too.

Suns putting 7 on the table so far out was mental. Surely there was no need to go as far as that.

Anyway, Jhye Clark is really struggling. He’s young, sure, but I’m glad Pou fell through
It shows how stuffed the system is. Low picks have no meaning to GC , they want lots of high picks for points for thei academy.

My thinking (admittedly hung over) was if Richmond knocked it back.

North get an additional pick in this year's strong draft and slide back a round next year whereas in the original offer they don't get any replacement pick next year.

Obviously light on based on the reactions here.

Perhaps more palatable would be the trade I proposed but a swap of future 1sts.

I.e.
pick 8, pick 32, future 1st and future 2nd

For

Pick 2, future 1st.

Probably still light on, but worth asking the Q

I want whatever the **** you had last night.

I hope the club is closer to my thinking than yours. Even if I am miles off the mark.

It's better to throw something out there and start a conversation than assume a deal can't be done and leave it to someone else.

Worst case they say no.
With your offer they'd say no and never deal with us again

So no, its not better to throw something out there

I disagree.

They might say no, never deal with us again is stupid.

Having spend some time over the years with Brady Rawlings I can tell you for a fact he wouldn't react that way. Way too good a temperament for that.

Exactly, unless Richmond refuse to trade anything better than 6 & 18 then we have no chance. Even still North may well prefer pick 18 this year over what we could offer.

8 & F1 for 2 and F2 would be my one and only offer. If that didn't work, then keep the picks and downgrade 8 if our top 10 selections aren't there anymore.

In that case, please give him a call tomorrow and report back to the group. Please send my regards to Brady. Thanks.

Difference between spending time with someone and being able to do the above. I've seen him a couple times a year I'm a group context.

I'm basing my judgement on my last discussion with him about H. Clark. Very reasonable and even temperament. Likes to move things forward.

Hey but apparently we dropped the ball on this one. Was always going to Geelong - Hawthorn and Essendon offered him more money but somehow some posters reckon we stuffed up.

Biggest scam was Geelong being able to spread Bowes salary over 4 years rather than having to actually honour the terms of his existing contract.
Yep. A 1 horse race was held in secret.
17 clubs were not in consideration yet Gags stuffed it up. Useless he was.

No he wasn’t he’s stated multiple times in interviews that he was a saints fan
There is some photos of him in a Saints jumper as a kid because his Mum is a crazy supporter and he always wanted to play for us because his Grand Father did but he followed his Dad to become a Carlton supporter when he was old enough to chose.

This is a fan forum discussing reasonable outcomes though. It’s not a Negotiation Masterclass. Who cares what the first offer is. It’s about what would be a reasonable outcome that would be accepted by both sides.

I mean fair enough, obviously my suggestion was off the mark, not hiding from that.

That said, I did say we should offer, not that I think it would get it done.

I'm not sure I've seen a fan forum where the sole discussion is reasonable outcomes either....

It was astonishing that it was ticked off on at all. I can understand letting Bowes go as the salary dump for maybe a token pick, but the addition of pick 7 just screams some back door deal having gone on. Considering that it was actually reported that Geelong had been into Bowes for a year by that point they had some very advanced warning of the Sun's willingness to get rid of Bowes.

My suspicion is that there is a considerable amount of dodgy dealings that go on behind the scenes that the AFL is shit scared of allowing to come to light so they actively assist in quashing things.

Club that has the AFL appointing directors and is involved in day to day operation (GCS) have shady dealings with then current AFLPA pres and ex house member in western Melb recent premier club (Cats) and deal gets signed off on. Random Joe public;

"There's something fishy here, I wonder if there was any collusion..."

I mean imagine having a current player as president of an entity you have to engage with to run the competition and not hold a conflict of interest at all...
