It's all them just 'thinking' what a club should/could do to create discussion & fill in the gaps when there's no footy.

It's their thoughts only.

I did not see the Full Article/Interview where he said that.

Did he say it's his Thoughts/Opinions he is Giving?

I like Cal but this is ridiculous.

Bruz plays a different defensive role lmao
There's about 20 newsworthy player trades a year. How many hours a year does he need to fill on his show called Gettable. A lot of speculative discussion has the occur.

Easpically during Majority of the Season.

Only at the End the might get some Rumors that might turn out to have Legs

And this is what he said about Rowell a few weeks ago :

“I reckon Collingwood will have a crack at luring Matt Rowell next year,” Twomey said on Gettable. “They'll continue to be proactive in the trade (space) ... That's not saying that he'll take up any interest or move at all, but as will other Victorian clubs, Collingwood will have a dip at a lot of players next year." 7 Nov 2024

Not sure what twomey is on about. Perryman and Houston's skill sets are no where close to that of maynard's. Maynard is a lock down defender who can play on tall, medium and small fwds, very hard to find.
Would expect the club will look to lock him up sooner rather than later, they don't usually leave the big names hanging for a new contract.

Houstons skill sets are beyond most at Collingwood bar Nick.
Sure, Maynard is a great defender.

There is absolutely no way we can facilitate a trade for rowell without trading someone else out first. Given his talent and age, suns could ask for 3 first rounders for him.

We are honestly better off targetting someone like LDU, where the cap is the only factor.

We’d have to facilitate a trade for LDU as well.

Even though he’s a free agent, he’s restricted, meaning North can match the deal and force a trade between both parties.

I've just watched that episode of Gettable.

I like Twomey and he's usually pretty careful to differentiate between speculation (like Maynard) and what he's actually heard.

He was pretty unequivocal about Rowell, saying that we "are" in for him. He's definitely heard something. Whether there's a lot of substance to it, who knows.

Would love to get Rowell but we'd need to get creative ala the Houston deal.

Yes north can match it, but they are better of not matching it as any LDU deal will trigger a band 1 compo.

Dave, unless a journo says he’s actually heard something from someone, just assume that it’s their own opinion.

Did you watch North this trade and draft period. They're done with picks. They want players to rise up the ladder.
Yes that is true, but remember north traded out their future first rounder, which in all likelihood will be a top 5 pick . They can recoup that pick if they let ldu walk, knowing full well no team will be able to give them that high a pick for them to access immediately in next years draft.

That decision will only become more clearer the lower north finish. If they finish with a bottom 3 pick, they can still get a top 3/4 talent to join their team next year .
I doubt any trade compensation they potentially could get for ldu will allow them to convert that into a top 3 pick without adding some picks of their own.

Spoke to a P.A. supporter recently who said that Houston doesn’t defend.
They always tried to free him up because of his kicking.
They can both play their roles - simples.
PS: must confess I had to take his word for it.

Don't think he be a Terrible Defender.

With his elite his Kicking is no wonder they tried to make him more Offensive then Defensive

Though could be your mate have Sour Grapes

All well and good but they need players to actually want to come to them too.
Failing being able to lure a player from the club that LDU (theoretically) chooses, picks are what they’re going to have to accept, and if they can lure a big name from another club a band 1 compo pick would go a long way to securing a trade for them.

I read somewhere today by Jon Ralph the saints are going to go hard for him cause he’s only 29, yet when we were Houston’s choice he was too old cause he was 28

Ralph still think Houston will still get to the Blues;) Unless he thinks Maynard to the Blues
