This is perfect for Starc . Runs the board , bowler friendly conditions and opposition that will go hard at him with poor technique that you can drive a truck through.

He might go for a few , but he has a bag of wickets in him here
Hope we see a few ODI tricks thrown in too. His yorker is underused at test level and I feel he could catch a few out. Perfect conditions for him, as you say, because his quick erratic bowling on a pitch that’s doing a bit should create plenty of chances in the same way Bolands predictability actually worked in their favour

In news just in, the England cricket team has just been listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. Henceforth they'll be known as the All Ordinaries.
One might say they are extra ordinary.

No debate from me in regards to Bradman, should easily be regarded the best batsmen ever.

In regards to Ponting and Tendulkar, Tendulkar shits all over Ponting.

Ponting was the best bat of his generation. His last few years tainted his record but his very long reign at the top was done while also being captain and batting 3. Something Lara and Tendulkar weren’t able to juggle successfully. And unlike others like Kallis and Dravid he also dominated bowling attacks and set matches up for wins, rather than a more dour occupation of the crease.

Best bat the world has seen since Viv Richards imo

This is because to choose to bowl first the pitch has to be massively in your favour. Bat first choices will happen on 50/50 pitches. So results will always skew in bowl first favour.
In 86 out of 93 matches the team winning the toss has batted first in India. However the team batting first has won 28 and lost 38 (34% won/ 20% drawn/ 46% lost).

However, one of the major benefits of batting first is it negates the effectiveness of spin. Which has become far more prominent in Test matches since the 90's. In the early 90's spinners bowled 30% of test overs, in the last 6 years they account for around 42%.

So, Since 2014 batting first does indeed have an advantage, but as mentioned before, from 1980 to 2014 it wasn't a particular advantage at all.

Also some pitches are and have always been bat first pitches (Adelaide and Galle) whereas others are and have always been bowl first (Lahore and Karachi).

Not really but cheers.

Tendulkar couldn’t do it with the burden of captaincy and while batting in the toughest position.

If you look at Ponting's record there's alot of gaping holes, for one he averaged in the 30s over his last 4 years.

Yea he played too long trying to usher in his new generation. His record before that was levels above the rest.

LOL what would Tendulkar average if he were given out LBW in india? It's easy to average the most when the rules don't apply to you.

What’s everyone drinking for the 1st session?

I’m having a few Peroni’s and will gently ease into it.

I will raise a glass of whisky for Smudge if he gets there.

A few of these liquid life savers.
