No, there isn’t. His average is below all of them. His strike rate is below all of them aside from Dale Steyn as well.

The only bowlers in the history of the sport to have taken 100+ wickets at a better average than he has, were all sitting in pubs discussing their careers by 1914.

So in 110 years of test cricket, nobody has taken their wickets as cheaply as Jasprit Bumrah, a fast bowler from India, with his 182 wickets, at 20.02.
Who takes a wicket every 43 balls.

That strike rate, incidentally, is better than all those long-dead guys with the better average than his, aside from George Lohmann, who’s last test was played in 1896.

But yeah he’s Indian so I’m guessing that rules him out of any potential to be in any of these discussions at any stage?
Wow...how did we get here??

What was the reasoning that CA gave for not giving next year's Ashes D/N test to Adelaide?

My understanding is that as it’s the Ashes, Adelaide will still get very good crowds even for a day test whereas CA are trying to prop up the Gabba which traditionally draws poor crowds so hopefully a D/N test can pull in some extra numbers

Yeah wish they’d just make it 2 day night tests per summer (rotate the second one but have Adelaide as one it’s an amazing event there)

Well the initial comment sounded like a shot at them kissing his arse - ie. ‘how can THIS guy be considered that good.’ I get the sense that if there was a player that Aussies saw every series and every summer churning out those numbers - like Smith was as a batsman for a long time - people would have no hesitation accepting similar claims.

Hell there was ample data for a LONG time to support the idea that if Smith retired at a certain point, or maintained his output just for another year or two, he would have a claim at all-time XI status and ‘best after Bradman’ status.

Well the simple fact is, he is that good and until his output drops, the commentators have every right to claim that we could be watching one of if not the best pace bowler ever. The numbers support it for now.

Good day by the Aussies, got to cash in tomorrow. Get a lead and bowl to the Indians tomorrow evening.

I’d rather be still Batting at stumps tomorrow thanks. Aim should be get 450 plus not the bowling under lights thing

India blew a great chance after their good early partnership. Great fightback from Aus, series well & truly alive.

Don’t know why you guys left Jurel out. Was so thankful he wasn’t playing

Yep. I don't understand the desire to try and play the game in fast forward just cost a pink ball is involved.

It’s also wait for it DAY TWO tomorrow why are we wanting to be bowling on day 2? Can we give the bowlers a day off for once? This has been half the issue and why our bowlers look cooked every series- they are bowling back to back days. It’s ridiculous. Just bat bat and bat hopefully make near 500 plus

not much gap between the upcoming tests either. If Aus is say 7/8 down when the night sessions starts then I'd expect them to declare. A lot of plays & misses in the night session today.

Would be the single most dumb idea on the planet. Let India bowl for 2 days then let’s think about bowling day 3 onwards
