Cheers. Learn something new every day.
There is a playing condition in this series that if the light falls below a certain level, instead of going off for bad light they turn on the stadium lights. This isn't a law of cricket, but it is a playing condition specific to this Aus/Ind series.

Despite Warnes protests I don't think there's many demons in this pitch at all. It's playing pretty well.

I'm not confident at all.

Wait, surely Warney or anyone isn’t actually saying there is any demons in this pitch at all? Yet to see a single wicket due to a ball doing anything out of the ordinary off this pitch for 5 days!!!

It would work with a team like Australia or England, this Indian tail is trash other than Jadeja who’s injured.

That’s my point though, you are not going to get any value out of those sorts of teams if they have to find 30 runs at 8-down or survive 12 overs to save the game but if they fluke 40 runs and five overs when there’s less pressure on it could actually be useful.

Bradman did it on a wet wicket once.

Even more so if I knew there was 120 overs to survive and no chance at all to win, I’d reverse the order and see if I couldn’t see the new ball off for 2-3 tailenders wickets and then the innings proper starts

You didn't see that extra bounce that got Pujara out from Cummins on day 3....?

Yep, got it. I knew there were certain rules outside and above the laws of cricket, but somehow I've never heard them referred to as playing conditions in all my years of watching cricket.

Consider me learned.

India need to go for the win. A draw will just see their injury ravaged side lose 2-1 with a likely final Test defeat.

Win this and they retain the trophy. Plenty of time left if they are brave and lucky.
Yeah I think it's a reasonable shout. I mean if they implode and get rolled in the next 10 overs trying to whack boundaries, it's easy to say "should've played for the draw".

Given the circumstances though and how wounded they'll be next test, I reckon it's worth the gamble. After the way Pant played too it feels almost disrespectful to just bat the time.
