Mate, get your head out of your bum.

There is more than one way to skin a cat, acknowledged.

Australia is in the dominant position in the game, therefore they have the ‘right’ to dictate how the game goes and how they want to try and pursue a win.

BUT.

The circumstances of the weather, the fact that they need to win the series to win the trophy etc mean the ball is in their court to force the issue a little more than normal.

So the longer they take out of the game by batting, and the more runs they score than they might ultimately end up needing, the less ways they have available to win.

It’s not hard to understand.

By batting for an hour today they’ve lost 16 overs that they might need on the last day. What if Jadeja and say, Siraj, squeeze out 16 overs in this innings batting together for no meaningful runs, in between rain delays, and they get to stumps on day five a couple of wickets short of victory?

Makes today’s batting look like a waste of time.
Blah blah blah, typical clueless shit from you, back on ignore, you insufferable numpty.

Rahul is sort of like a modern Armanath for them.

Armanath was one right out of the box in his era as almost all his runs were made outside India - Rahul isn’t like that in terms of WHERE his runs are made but certainly in terms of when they are.
Rahane was very good here and noted for his overseas runs as well, big hand in their recent successes here.

They aren't having tantrums and dismissing every other pov. They have a right to their opinions but they aren't having tantrums and getting angry and swearing at people.
I doubt you hate test cricket, you just don't understand it.
I would take a captain's opinion who has won a WTC a WC and retained the Ashes over some nuffie using a footy team nic superseded in 1977, is all.

Good insightful debate from you.

Pot - Meet kettle... I think you'll find you have something in common.

Sunil Gavaskar was just on ABC radio discussing the first hour of play. His opinion was that it was a waste of time and it made no sense for Australia to be doing what they were doing.

I guess he's just a nuffie on a football forum too...
Yeah, 350 was enough in my opinion given the forecast, but even still we should (IMO) have declared over night

In the end of the day, 3-22 after a mini session indicates we took the right approach this morning, especially as it was some switched-off shots that got Jaiswal, Gill and Kohli. After all, we're pretty happy with 3 wickets, sub-100-run session come lunch if we declared overnight.

We may get done that way, but that's on the bowlers for not being good enough when it mattered. Tip your hat to Jadeja and Siraj and move on.

Essentially what I’m gleaning from a quick perusal of a handful of posts is that T20 is responsible for everything from youth unemployment to the crisis in the Ukraine
There may be a bit of hyperbole around the impact of T20 cricket, but there have definitely been repercussions for how test cricket is played. There are some who believe that's a good thing (I'm not one of them) but it's naive to suggest there hasn't been some impact.

3-22 yesterday afternoon or first thing this morning wouldn’t have been even better?

Correlation doesn’t equal causality. Australia probably doesn’t have India 3-22 because Australia batted on for 16 overs, more than likely. There’s just as much chance they could have them 6-7 down by now.

Again, the current approach COULD work and they may win the test. But it gives them less ways they can do it which is why people wanted them to potentially approach it differently.

It has nothing to do with ‘not being able to watch test cricket’ like someone was claiming earlier

Even if it’s a draw I’d take us getting our batsmen in form and getting near 450 it’s been years since we made that total
Smith was the one that found form and Carey to a lesser extent. Mcsweeney Labaschagne Khawaja and Marsh all in grave danger or should be of missing next test.
I'd bring in Konstas for 1 and possibly Webster at a minimum

Of course there are, but blaming it for people suggesting that a side make an aggressive declaration in a rain effected test is the sign of a simpleton

Does anyone know the actual law/rule on lunch and tea breaks and whether or not they can be interfered with in regards to they must be taken no matter how much weather delay there has been.

For example the tea break in my opinion should not be on the table today, play missed should mean that these breaks cannot be taken.

Yet it seems that no matter what these two breaks are written in stone and even though they can be taken later or earlier they will still be taken.

In other words, rain cannot take away time from breaks. Am I incorrect in assuming this is how it works?

That's my understanding of how the laws of the game are written, but I am no means an expert on the topic. The breaks can be integrated into rain delays, but the time needs to be taken out of the playing day at some stage.

Was OTT the bans anyway, lets not forget Faf Du Plessis (among others) got a 1 game ban as per the ICC guidelines. Honestly that's what we should have done, instead lets stuff our test side around to please everyone whom 90% wouldn't even watch the sport and would forget about it in a month!
They were insane.

Lunch generally can’t be moved they can only take it early (within 1/2 hour if tge scheduled time) tea is a little different but they can only play 2.5 hrs a session max - that’s in the playing conditions

McSweeney and Labs partnership in Adelaide was critical for us winning that match. They’re fine.

And yet there are still numpty Australians who thought Smith and Warner should have been banned for life. Indian supporters throw that out there with a sandpaper jibe all the time.

It's ok that Jadeja was caught not long ago altering the ball in the field. That was OK. Nothing to see here.
