Taylor was talking about 4 day Test matches 20 odd years ago. It's not a bad idea but as we know, that fifth day can be needed to decide the outcome of a match.
Feel like 4 day test matches would work better for teams outside the Big 3.

Any series involving the Big 3 you would contemplate having 5 days.

Almost as though Australia could now do with the 22 overs worth of time they spent making their last 60 runs.
India would only be 18 runs away from the follow-on target. Doubt it makes any difference to the result.

Those 60 runs are the only thing opening up a result. If India were about to pass the follow on target you can forget the win.

If those 20 overs had already been bowled and India were already out (a distinct possibility), and Australia were about to bat again, and there was to be little rain left again (doubtful but who knows), it gives Australia the chance to bash 100-150 and send India in to survive a day or chase a target: neither of which they look capable of doing at the moment.
