Shouldn't get rid of McSweeney. We're going to need all the promising mid/late 20s talent we can get going forward.

Khawaja looks like he's truly getting to the end so there'll be an opening for Konstas and/or [Insert other young-ish opening option here] coming up very soon anyway.
Winning this series needs to be our priority and i have seen absolutely nothing to suggest Mcsweeney is capable of a score at the moment. He has no plan for Bumrah, it is just a matter of when not if.

Not sure anyone else will have more luck but they can't be worse.

who actually deserves to be in the side though? mcsweeney should never be opening, marnus can barely bat, sans his second innings in adelaide, marsh is rubbish, usman is dicey.

smith? on the fence, had a great century but wholly average over the past few tests, head, only person who can hold their head high, carey plays his role well
"Smith on the fence".. come on..

Pushing older players out requires planning. Not suddenly handing 4 new players a baggy green and saying good luck. Obviously you would start with Khawaja and Marsh. Look at bringing Hunt or Konstas in for Usman. You have to back McSweeney longer than 3 tests. There is a limit and come Sydney if he doesnt have something on the board, yes he is in danger.

Marsh I would look to swap with Beau Webster now. That would be my only change for the next test. Plus Hazelwood.

How has mqsweeney made this side, although he sits comfortably alongside the current flaky top order, he has shown nothing, one 30 odd in the series. He doesn't look like being a test player. Is this a reflection on our shield level batters, or are the selectors just completely useless ?

Risk losing to win is only reason for this reckless batting. But the weather will deprive us of a win in a n match we have driven from day 1, with two massive storm fronts now bearing down on Brissie.
If this was some sort of order to hit out or get out in a the hope of a "So you're saying there's a chance?" miracle, then okay......but it makes it very hard to drop any of the batsmen.

You can't demand they sacrifice themselves and then dump them for doing so.

Jamie Siddons would have had a decent crack at national colours in this era.

Id say the NSW team was more inclusive in the 90s, and they had a step up in terms of selection in that era.
The cold hard reality is that during that era NSW was the strongest state and players regularly went to other states to get a game ie. a battler called Adam Gilchrist. It was not uncommon for Grade games to feature 5/6 first class or better players.
