He will surely get a decent block of games now, playing as a ruck/KPF you would imagine in rotation with Ryan.

Although he lacks a bit of height, I think he could be a really dangerous ruck around the ground with his mobility, and rack up a bit of ball similar to a Tim English type. He's not going to dominate the hitouts, but we only need him to not get completely dominated and just have the contests and back the midfield to win the ball.

He could also contribute in defence, but it looks more obvious for him to play KPF with Lynch out for a while when he's not in the ruck.
How did he ruck in the VFL last week, anyone? He had 33 hit outs so that doesn't sound too shabby.

He looked pretty good rucking a fortnight ago. Has a big spring which makes up for his slight shortness (only 1cm below Nank) and seemed to palm it pretty well as well.

just needs a bit of campaigner about him in the centre bounces and his game will go to another level.

Watching him this year he is slowly but surely gaining the confidence to assert himself physically in contests. I am really looking forward to seeing what he can do. We should know whether he is ever going to be a genuine AFL level footballer after this run of games.

Their are ruck options here still...depending on the state of the game...we could play Miller at CFB and give Balta a run in the ruck...
Their is also the Grigg strategy of playing Marlion in the ruck...interchanged with Kmac!
We can shuffle the Ruck deckchairs till Soldo and Broady both return...

He was beaten in the ruck by Sweet who had 55 hitouts. He is 206cms though and 25yo so he is not short, but sweet. :)

At his height I don't think he's ever going to win the ruck battle against a number 1 ruck, he might not be that sort of player, but he's a really valuable around the ground ruck, so ideally he'd work in tandem with someone like Ryan, who has the long term size to be a genuine number 1 if he fills out a bit more.

Nankervis is 30 next year and of course is an injury risk to miss chunks of games with his history. Soldo is interesting because his development which has been cruelled by injuries has really slowed him down, but he was coming along nicely. Soldo turns 27 this week, so he's not a long, long term player, but does he enough hope to persist with as a number 1 ruck in 2024 and beyond for a few years?

Hoping they go about 50/50 ruck/fwd. I really want Miller to get a proper shot fwd at senior level. 2 dangerous ruck/fwds would be gold.
As much as everyone creamed their pants over Miller as the 2nd ruck last year, the reality is, he did nothing up forward at all.

He's not even a good forward at VFL level. Plays much better in the ruck or down back.

Was always battling with Jack and Lynch. The few times he actually got the ball directed to him he looked sharp I thought. Has a big leap, would probably be the fastest KPF in the game. A lot to work with, just need to see how he goes when he's the focal point.

I hope you are onto something, I just dont see it.

Who has hacked JAK's profile ?

this guy makes too much sense

Biggie looked really good in the VFL ruck a fortnight ago (against Coburg?). Well-timed gigantic leaps in the centre bounces then dropping back and taking intercept marks. Good enough for me to wonder about him performing second ruck at AFL level.
Then last week he was getting absolutely pantsed by Jordan Sweet in the ruck - then got injured.
Miller performed a lot better in the ruck. A bit like Nank- hard to dominate hit-outs against a taller opponent but gets involved at ground level and gets around the ground.
I agree that I'm yet to see Miller do a lot when playing forward, but his height requires a decent defender to mind him and he provides decent ground level pressure for a guy his size.

Early days I never thought he would make it.

Then late last year he teased me, I changed my tune, I thought he had great upside if given the opportunity.

Nope, I was right the first time. Can't physically impose himself on the the contest, bad positioning, lacks concentration and match awareness, and zero confidence to boot.

I's swap him for Bradtke, let Soldo and Ryan ruck see if that works.
