true, but Miller was more forward /ruck last year and he was in out of both teams and never had any consistency or time to settle .
2022 is 2 years ago chief

I wouldn't get too carried away. He has played 30 games in 7 years. If he's offered a 2 year deal he should take it.

Matty Clarke recruited him .... West Coast would easily offer him 4 years at $2 million ... salary cap is increasing ... their cupboard is bare ... 25-29 are the years where a big man finally clicks ...

there is no market for how he played in previous years but there is a huge market for what he is producing this year

Crazy to take a 2 year deal. He has made peanuts until now 3 years on draftee money and three years on rookie money.

This is his window to make pay off a house money.

I said we should have tied his contract up 2 weeks ago ... Would have got away with $1 million over 3 years ... his agent would be taking lots of calls now ... Matty Clarke and West Coast probably having dinner with his parents tonight... Chol got $3 million over 5 in the same position ... Can't see anything less than 1.5 over 3 getting the deal done now ... 24 year old 197cm defenders ranking elite for 1v1 wins that won agility and goal kicking at the draft combine and ran 20m in 2.83sec just don't exist.

Half this board was saying delist him a few weeks ago. And then also objecting to Koschitzke being given a contract probably less lucrative than the one you are suggesting now for Miller. If Miller plays well and his value rises, great. Offer him a fair deal, if someone offers a much better deal and he goes, we will get very decent compo.

Incredible and they had MRJ crucified as well.

You still get compensation, according to his age and contract offer. Was the same story with Chol and we got a 3rd rounder for him.
No you don't... we traded with Suns so they didn't lose their compo for whichever Suns Restricted Free Agent left that year ... was it Rankine?

Edit: I am wrong about unrestricted free agents... that was CCJ trade and Tarrant .... but I am not sure that there is any difference because he was previously delisted.

bottom 30% get no compo ... would need to be above $650K a year now to get end of 2nd round picks like Chol

You clearly don't realize we have struck gold with Miller, he is playing at an elite level for a defender this year looking at the stats ... an end of second round pick got us Fawcett who might reach this standard in 5 years or never

These are the Free Agency deals from the 2021 draft period. You can see from the top 3 that unrestricted and restricted Free Agents get compensated just the same, it is only terminally delisted players who don't attract compo. And also there was no trade for Chol, we got an end of 2nd round pick under Free Agency compensation.

Or maybe he is the sort of bloke that would thoroughly enjoy going out with a VFL premiership medal ... would be a gun at VFL level and would thoroughly enjoy developing the youngsters in Mutaz, Kaleb Smith, Banks and Ralphsmith this week at Werribee

Yeah maybe. But gotta be honest, haven't seen to many examples of 3 time premiership players who run their own winery's in Mount Macedon with his beautiful, lovely wife who would rather be away from that to play football in Werribee on a shitty melbourne arvo. I reckon he would probably prefer to get on with the next chapter of his life Vs playing in the VFL. Just my opinion of course.

You are a long time retired

I spoke to his manager Colin Young while laying by the Crown towers pool when I was in Perth at Xmas

He said Miller is as loyal as they come to Richmond.. he had 3 and 4 year offers from other clubs and rejected them to stay at Richmond

He ain’t going anywhere

Well clearly half this board are muppets ... I wasn't saying that ... I said give him a contract before he plays because it has clicked for Ben

and he will tear this thing apart this year. ... he will prove to be such a unicorn that he will make Luke Jackson look like a Shetland pony ... he is taller, stronger, quicker and more agile than Brown with the same slipper...

and your response is to say it is okay if he leaves because we will get an end of second round pick ...

Miller has a 1v1% loss of 16.7. 7th in the comp for those with more than 10 1v1's. That's similar to what Young was doing for us last yr.
From memory, after 6 games, Young was no.2 only behind Weitering. Tired a bit like most first year players, finished 6th I think.

I thought Young was pretty good on King on the weekend. Every mark King took he has young either up his clacker or trying to hit the high ball and not missing by much. King is 202cm with a good spring, so no mean effort. Likewise Miller give Membrey nothing until the last Q when Saints got some easy attacks through the midfield. Both have great kicks, which is a massive bonus for key backs, Miller in particular is looking very comfortable with the ball.

* We finish bottom 4
*We trade Baker to eagles for their 2nd rounder
* Eagles offer Miller $800k x 3 year deal to give us Band 1 compo for miller
Probably.
How about Freo for one of their first rounders?
Why would West Coast want another tall defender when they have McGovern and Barass?

You are 100% correct. A month ago many posters were saying we should be done with him, me included. I’m not convinced yet and want to see more before panicking and paying overs for Miller. Let him show that he is the man for the job and pay him accordingly. If a big offer comes from elsewhere then we take the compo if he wants to leave.
