I think it has the opposite effect. Being dragged around the squad with no chance of playing would simply lead to resentment and disharmony.

Hardly. They would be thrilled being close to the side both would rather that than some BbL rubbish. Inglis likely plays in Sri Lanka

Rather be playing than sitting round running out as someone's glorified water boy.
Have a trainer/physio do all that

The concussion protocols nowadays force teams to carry a spare bat and bowler. It’s just the way it is. Inglis is a perfect one as he doubles as a keeper.

Only really going to be hot for 1 day mainly in the afternoon. Last session and a half.
In fact if they water the pitch it could zip around early. Best batting will be days 2 and 3.
In fact you'd have a thought to bowl. A green top in morning muggy weather could easily be 4 down early.
Plus sends a strong psychological message to the opposition you won't run scared of a couple of hours of warm weather

Loser decision bowling first

You clearly haven’t seen them bat…these blokes were genuine ferrets…they went in after the rabbits
Chris Martin would’ve been a candidate for Jim and Bob’s batting coach, such was his ability with the willow in relation to theirs.

Jim and Bob never had the batting coaching that Chris Martin did, and still he is genuinely in their league

Lower batting average
Lower balls per innings average
Most duck eggs average

But all in a general amateur cricket level of s**tness,

You mean except concussion protocols right who cares about the BBL it’s really just dinner time entertainment that’s it. I’m sure they are happy being around the test squad
Still a game of competitive cricket though regardless of the comp. Hadn’t thought of the concussion angle to be fair but that highlights the ridiculousness of that rule even further. How many of those do we get a year?

Starting XI, twelfth man (concussion sub, take an allrounder if you want) and a couple of local lads as sub fielders. No need to have a handful of blokes just hanging around for a home series missing vital game time for a series they likely won’t be involved in.

Lots of talk about Konstas potentially ton on debut but you all know how the script will go. Marsh back against the wall will make a ton and take a 4fa, get BOG and then be shit for another year.
The script will go
Konstas tons up on debut but goes out in Sydney playing an attacking shot. Calls for him to be dropped to work on his technical faults.
Meanwhile second dig Kahwaja and Marsh get a useless 50 when the game is done and are considered undropabale as we need experience
