Having been to a lot of test cricket, I cannot remember a time where every opposition player was booed off the ground after a dismissal like I saw today. Eg. Marnus was booed off after making a really gutsy 70 which I feel like goes against the very fabric of test cricket sportsmanship.

Surely if they’re such cricket tragics they can understand and appreciate an innings from an opposition player? Happened with Uzzie, Smith and Cummins aswell. My friends and I all just looked at eachother and wondered what the hell was going on.

Also, geez it felt like an India home test match today. They really do come out in force. Outnumbered the Australian support by quite a margin I thought.

That's a shame. I've gone to a few days of BGT Tests at the Gabba in recent years and they've always been fantastic. Full of noise and good-natured. Happy to have a chat and get involved when an Australian supporter tried to start a wave.

Some of the Australian fans on the other hand were massive w***ers. I heard some absolutely disgusting stuff directed at Bumrah (of all players, not sure why you would target him - seems a good bloke) this year.

They were the minority though, generally a good atmosphere.

General Admission Seating​

General admission seating will be available in the following locations for Day 5:

Shane Warne Stand
  • Level 1 (M1-M2 no alcohol bays)
  • Level 2
  • Level 2A
  • Level 4

Olympic Stand
  • Level 1
  • Level 2
  • Level 4
+ all levels of the mcc is open

The Ponsford Stand will be closed for Day 5.

Yeah it was a massive shame to be honest. Just some totally rogue comments being made by those around me.

Cannot deny that Aussie fans can be insufferable pricks too. Especially the drunken idiots who pipe up yet have no idea about the sport

The fact that there's no real obvious tactical option here makes it such a fascinating test / series. Normally it would be pretty clear on the approach about when to declare, target to set, overs to have but there is a really mystery here.

Pitch looks ok, generally flattens out as the day wears on. Starc hasn't been able to impact the test, Lyon looked really ineffective for large chunks of day 3.

Do we go for broke and declare tonight? Put them back out in the field for 10-20 mins? Or bat as long as we can to try take overs and time out of the game to force India's hand?

Are India going to play strokes and chase? Hold wickets and try and chase down 150+ in the last session? Or just play for the draw and say see you in Sydney?

What a game. Can't remember one poised like this

Interesting sitting at fine leg and one little kid spent the entire day trying to get Bumrahs autograph but he just ignored them completely and the 12th man kept telling him to go away.

But every kid got the very prized autograph of Sean Abbott!

Don't know how much it means but India have to win this test and the next if they don't want to have to rely on other results to qualify for a World Test Championship final spot at Lords in June. Could be a factor.

Do we have a start time?

I thought I'd seen 10.09 in this thread, but ch7 said first ball was 10.30am.

edit: Cricinfo also saying 10.09am, so I guess I go with that.

I went to one of the earlier days of the Gabba Test in 2021 which was an absolute scorcher and ended up with probably the worst sunburn I've ever had despite thinking I'd been diligent with sunscreen.

Dragged myself to day 5 and have no regrets despite the result. The stadium was largely empty, but it was one of the best atmospheres at a sporting game I've been to once the Indian fans really started to flood in after tea. Was miserable at the time, but a pretty memorable day to look back on, especially for gold coin entry.
