What are the garbage comments on here about the ball being allowed to make contact with the ground during a catch - that’s a bloody drop! Everyone on here has reacted the same way as the Indian fans last test but in a unique Bigfooty way
It's the rules these days. Fingers under the ball is a catch even if the ball touches the grass

Good decision IMO. If his index finger was truly under the ball, it would be closer to the seam. It appears to have rolled over to the side and touched the ground unfortunately. Rules are rules.
He’s got that pinched together though. That still image doesn’t look great but when it rolls to the frame immediately afterwards you can see it lift up in his hand. If we’re making calls based on images like this then the game is well and truly gone

Left frame out. Right frame not out.

His finger is not under the ball in the righg and appears to be touching the grass.
Already had control.
The throwing motion made the ball hit the ground but he had control before that, catch was already made.
YOU ARE WRONG!

Seriously, do we have a definitive rule regarding this touching the ground.

Starc's catch was fingers over the ball and on the ground, so different.
My question is according to the rules, can a finger he under part of the ball and part touching the ground and be deemed touching the ground or not?

I think Wilson is incompetent and should be removed from the elite panel, but a difficult decision and with the technology looks to touch the ground.

I could be wrong, but I think you answered your own question "part touching the ground" is touching the ground. Which, in those circumstances, would mean not out. Any touching of the ground by the ball appears to mean not out under Law 33.1 (my bold), even if a finger is also under part of the ball.

33.1 Out Caught

The striker is out Caught if a ball delivered by the bowler, not being a No ball, touches his/her bat without having previously been in contact with any fielder, and is subsequently held by a fielder as a fair catch, as described in 33.2 and 33.3, before it touches the ground.
