I thought it might have been Gavaskar's call to not present the trophy but he seemed to want to be up there too. He should have been included alongside Border considering that the trophy is also named after him. Feel like it would have been a nice moment because they won't be around forever, and AB is facing health challenges as well.

I think after the last the last series in England, there will be a lot of feeling in the Ashes this year. both on the field and from the stands.

I like beating india more now than the Poms I think, mainly as India has become the worlds best for playing the victim (held it for a while now), and make the Poms seem half decent. Though the Bazball cult stuff is turning it back to England slowly,

Kostas went from hero to villain in the space of a week!

Because he showed more pluck straight up against Bumrah and Kohli than his teammates?

Because he didn't buckle at the knees when Kohli shoulder charged him?

Because he didn't wilt in the face of Bumrah's verbal?

Because his teammates rallied behind his confidence and exuberance?

Because he attacked India from the outset today and gave Uzzie the inspiration and confidence to do the same?

Because we won the trophy against a petulant India?

Nah....true Aussie supporters have got his back.

Agree totally.

Thing is, it was always the plan to only have the "winner" up there.

Now I bloody well hope Sunny was told this ahead of time. Shit if not.

But if he was told, then why didn't he and AB tell the organisers that they were both going up. They hold enough clout to make that call surely.

Better to raise it then than afterwards when it looks a bit whiny.

Such a shame a series between the 2 most powerful cricket countries, can't just be about the great cricket that's been played between them anymore. Instead it's turned into a cesspool of ordinary sportsmanship and fan behaviour. Been like this in every series since the 2001 tour of India. Pretty sad.

I think this one was pretty good mostly. Media pumping it up out of proportion

lol. bullshit.

at the time of the post it was dead even. Australia registered a lower total than Indias first Innings. Proving the initial post that we were miles ahead incorrect. Bizzare how you can be miles ahead when you enter a lower runs total rofl.

Bumrah going out injured and unable to bowl was a major factor for Australia winning in the end.

We were lucky in the end we didn't have to face Bumrah, His out was massive.
Something something angry noises something something something take the L? More angry noises.

Anyway, fluctuating fortunes are what make test cricket so good. A team can be well on top and the suddenly, not. It’s the team that can make the most of their time on top that wins the game. In this case, that was Australia. They rolled them cheaply, then dropped their bundle batting, but recovered by rolling India for next to nothing again. And that was that.

And i think the vast majority of Indian supporters are brilliant generally. A small minority are terrible but we'd have the same like every country
Had a great time walking back from the G on day 5 talking about the game with a couple of Indian guys, one from India one from California. Told us all the best places to go should I ever do a cricket tour.

Given you are crowned the world champions and it pays off the previous years work, I'd put it next in line behind those though.

Can't complain about the state of test cricket and then send over a weakened 11 for the match.

Need to set the standard and go over with the best 11, let the world know if they want it then come and get it.

Nah, JimBob's point that leads come and go through a match was right. 180 in the first innings by India wasn't a "good" score, which was your original point. Australia under performing in their first innings didn't suddenly invalidate India's batting failures.

It was a good pitch for bowlers but the batsmen from both sides largely underperformed. India batting first and failing to have any meaningful advantage heading into the second innings proved costly to them. 340 odd by India overall was under par. Australia proved that by the end.

It's all good though. I have been in your shoes and been wrong before. You will get the call right next time.
Thanks Meow, I tried to get that across but maybe I was too obtuse. Choosing g to bat and getting g rolled for 180 is never good, but that’s ok, teams recover from it. India did until they didn’t.

Anyway, test cricket is pretty great - series like this prove it for me. Some will say that both batting line ups were fragile, but god there was some beautiful bowling.

And they are engaged in the game instead of getting pissed and sunburnt and clapping themselves after singing their nursery rhymes.

They’re singing nursery rhymes and banging their drums. You just can understand what they’re singing

Boland has a Test average that Hazlewood could only dream of.

Even if it blew out five runs per wicket, he’d still have him covered.
We all know why Binga prefers Hazlewood. He's from NSW. Their very best bowling again at eachother I'll take Boland. He can get wickets and look dangerous on absolute roads whereas Hazlewood needs conditions to favour him a bit more. He's also a cripple who can't get himself up for more than 2 tests in a row. Boland has to stay in the side and to me it's a no brainer. Hazlewood becomes the very good depth option. Roles reversed.

The whole culture of how they select the batting lineup needs to change.

It shouldn't be that big of a deal if a batsmen is dropped because they are out of form.

It's not that easy.

You don't want players playing with the mindset that if they fail for a few tests then they will be on the chopping block.
