You can't let a 19yo run rampant disrepecting and taking the piss. What did you think was gonna happen?
For the record, IMHO Konstas needs to reign it in a touch.

But don't give me this respect BS when the Indian players have never shown any respect for their opponents.

You cant be serious that your OK with Kohli's shouldering of Konstas then?

What I cant stand is the double standards given to Kohli by the media and (Indian) cricket fans in general

Might have the aussie glasses on but it seems that he can carry on like a dickhead and everyone seems to love it (oh, he's a competitive beast etc). Yet if an Australian player carried on like that, he would be roasted.

The shoulder incident on Konstas - was barely was raised by the media and certainly there was very little on Social Media from the Indian fans about it and nothing said form the BCCI.

Yet I've raised it before - what would have happened if it was Starc who dropped his shoulder into (say) KL Rahul? You can just imagine the outrage that would have happened. The BCCI would have bene in uproar.

Would he have been suspended I wonder?

Given that Kohli had form in this area previously, he should have been suspended. Some say to move on but you simply cannot do that on the cricket field.

And everyone to a man that I’ve heard commenting on it that isn’t Indian - neutral etc - agrees. He should have been.

The other examples they’re giving though I think are irrelevant though because they’re just examples of people being dickheads that are not suspendable no matter where you’re from, they’re just getting the treatment they deserve, ie. fans pointing out that the perpetrator is carrying on like a tit

He might have been being disrespectful when fielding under the lid to Jaiswal or the incident with Bumrah - but Kohli shoulder charged him for what: disrespectful shot selection? If that's the case, Aussies should have been able to king hit Pant in his last innings. It was really poor from Kohli - Warner would have been lynched for it.
We hurt them where it counted, the scoreboard.

Probably not a 36 year old man to get tilted by a 19 year old on a cricket field. If that tilted you as well thats a reflection on you

He wasn’t taking the piss, he was just playing shots that weren’t conventional. If that gives one of the leaders and most experienced players in the oppo a license to shoulder charge opponents then we might as well say **** it and start boxing on whenever we get annoyed on a cricket field.

I was about to say that. Defending 30-something year olds getting triggered by a 19 year old is a strange hill to die on.

I don't mind Konstas getting into the kitchen of some of those players. He may reign it in due to maturity, but I am enjoying hes bright-eyed, bushy-tailed precociousness. When was the last time a) we debuted a teenager for the Tests and b) him immersing into the contest from the first seconds?

Nah it wasn't good from Kohli but McGrath , Warner and others would do simular. The mistake Kohli made was touching him, he should have just said 'shut your mouth muther ****er' like Bumrah did.

He was taking the piss when fielding at short leg and when Kwarja got out.
He can bat however he likes but he looked silly going out when slogging and he's only averaging 29 in 4 innings.
For the want of a better phrase he needs to be able to walk the walk before he starts talking imo.

I'm a Konstas fan let me tell you, but I don't buy the argument of comparing ages. They're all test cricketers representing their country, age doesn't come into it imo, everyone is fair game for argy bargy.

Decent people applaud a fine shot, whether it be their team mate or the opposition. It is a sport - you expect sporting prowess and physical co-ordination.

Absolutely it's fine, still piss funny a 36 year old was letting a teenager get to him

Peter Crouch used to play for Liverpool in the EPL. Crouchy was no looker, in fact he was a shocker.

He was once asked by a reporter 'what would you be if you weren't a professional football player'?

His answer. 'A virgin'
And on the other hand, the inimitable George Best: "If I had been born ugly, you'd never had heard of Pele."

There actually should have also been a fine or two for descent on top of a suspension for Virat.

But it was more the commentators and press not being critical. Felt like not just Indian media being controlled by Modhi, but the global cricket media being controlled by Modhi. No one wants to ruffle feathers and miss out on IPL.

Still on a high 2 days after it ended, and my smile becomes even broader when I ponder the fact that India has now lost 6 of their last 8 Tests. Hopefully all 5 of their Tests in England are abandoned without a ball being bowled.

They don't mouth off at the world's best cricketers.
You know he was picked to compete against these blokes?

In his first innings he got constantly sledged and shoulder charged for having some success batting unconventionally. Do you want him to just defer?

He wasn't shoulder charged ,he was bumped into very mildly, he wasn't sledged either. He was told to stfu when he got involved with Bumrah and Kawarja and so he should have according to Border, Ponting and Mark Waugh.
