Gilchrist’s record was freakish. He was averaging 60 after 47 matches.

But the strength of the side meant he wasn’t batting THAT often so one low score by that stage could impact his average a lot and it plateaued reasonably quickly.

Aside from Warne I think he was the best player in that team. The guy was a freak.



If you set the minimum at 20 games the best average for a keeper batsman in history is ABDV who averaged a bit over 60 from 28 games or something.
