I still remember the ad for a UK phone company playing during the 05 Ashes it was played that much and I don’t reckon I missed a second. Just starting living with a girlfriend at the time and was up in the bedroom watching cricket every night. She must of thought “What the **** did I move in with this weird campaigner for?”

That’s my understanding, yes. Off field rules only apply for that innings.
As per 7news :

Whether or not the 31-year-old returns to the field at any stage for the remainder of the match remains in doubt, but even if he does, Bumrah will have to serve a maximum two-hour penalty on the field of play before he is allowed to bowl again.

With every passing minute after eight minutes off the ground, penalty time starts to accrue, with a maximum of two hours.

That's interesting

Also, correct me if I’m wrong here but he can’t bowl first up?

I think it's 1-2 hours although I'm not sure if that penalty gets served if ravi bats til lunch or if the 2 hours only starts once India starts bowling.

Massive game for Australia.. they let Windies win last Test last year to make it 1-1, they let England come back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2.. only rain saving them from a 3-2 loss arguably.. can't let it happen again here or it'll be a failure.
I don’t think they ‘let’ those teams beat them….

I went out to the lounge during lunch and tea breaks and any weather delays. Some nights I convinced her to watch it with me in the lounge like a date Mike Hussey would go on and it was that point early on in a relationship where they agree to do things when she was thinking “I hate this shit, I wish he’d put Survivor or something on”

Hmmm...I dont know a lot about him, but looking at CI, 31 yr old journeyman. 2 50's in Shield this year. 13 wickets across 4 matches 6 of which came in one match. He's hardly putting up numbers that are convincing tbh, but cant be worse than Marsh I guess, but i feels a bit like the Faulkner/Hastings/Quiney era of awarding mediocre players with a Baggy G....something i really don't like.
We are predominantly just putting in a stop gap pre Cam Greene. He will probably play a few tests and that’ll be that. We just need someone who can bat at 6 and bowl some overs.

Ok I’m certainly happy to be wrong on this one. That would be great if there’s no bumrah with the new ball.

If Starc and Hazelwood were smart they'd realise that Boland can extend their careers.

If the three of them rotate through two spots each test then everyone stays fresh. Only need to play 2 out of every 3.

Hazelwood is the one I thought he may be able to replace

That's nothing against Josh who's been great for us, but he does seem to struggle to back up across a series and thinking the selectors need to potentially review his spot in the 11 - especially if they're wanting him to still be part of the ODI & T20 setups
Why would we replace him... Currently 2nd test rank bowler in the world, plus his the only Australian player make the icc test team of the year... Let Josh give way 1 layers..

'Bowled well in Melbourne' - match figures of 1-111.

You people are beyond help.

100%

We have good history on this now too - Starc currently starts series well, but really fades as he goes long into the series. I thought we'd genuinely be smarter this series & manage him with our squad - but clearly the coaching setup is too scared to rely on the bowlers behind him.

It's an utterly idiotic long term strategy - as the brains trust need to start blooding in new young bowlers, because we cannot keep relying on a bowling attack that is getting well into their 30s (and nearly 40s with Lyon). But I expect a win, papers over this and our selectors will just keep rolling out the same 4-5 bowlers, until 1 or 2 of their knees/backs explode in a test match.

It's idiotic but we've shown the selectors don't really "select" if the bowler wants to play.

Based on all the talk, Cam Green will be used in the side for at least the short term (when he returns) much like Shohei Ohtani this season - no bowling and only a batsmen. They don't want to overwork him & see him as a batsmen first.

I think Webster has more than earned a good go at the team. 31 is basically youngster in this side. I'd argue the player (aside from Marsh) that's in the periphery for the number 6 slot is Hardie. But his injury + form has pushed him away from selection for timebeing.

I expect we will likely see Green play 3 or 4 again, than 6. How they shuffle it, will be interesting.

Obviously Australia in Sri Lanka will have many many lengths on all this t20 bulls**t, but it's not going to be anything close to this series. The same with the test championship final if we make it.
Haha yeah I’m with you. Though I always love us playing for a trophy (or mace)

But even here he didn’t start the series well, only propped up by a pink ball test.

His red ball bowling average is over 30 and rising.

Still think his bowling was far better in first 3, than the last 2. Especially this match.

His radar has been woeful this match - he couldn't bowl the proper length at all, meanwhile Boland was bowling to a 10c piece every ball. Hence why Starc been carted every over this innings.
