Definitely but it's a false equivalence.
Those fans will be changing teams because their preference has always been a Tasmanian team, but it hasn't existed.
It wouldn't be to do with some nonsense about owing it to the state for the opportunities and quality of life it has given them though that might have informed the preference that some of them have.

True, but it'll be an interesting watch.
Tasmanian's have generally held out little hope for a state team over the years, so allegiances to other teams are heavily ingrained.
I suspect the fan base will have to grow from the younger generation, assuming the older supporters don't suddenly change allegiance.
But, as you say, nothing to do with politics and opportunity in the State.
I support Australia against anyone although that's not really the point being made. It's about people who emigrate yet are ungrateful. And I criticise fellow Britons who whinge about Australia too.
