He wasn't shoulder charged ,he was bumped into very mildly, he wasn't sledged either. He was told to stfu when he got involved with Bumrah and Kawarja and so he should have according to Border, Ponting and Mark Waugh.

He can bat however he likes but he looked silly going out when slogging and he's only averaging 29 in 4 innings.

No, he was just being a pest. Which is 100% fine. In fact, I thought the counting bat taps thing was actually a clever mind game to distract Jaiswal. I have no idea if it worked or not but again, it wasn’t rude, it wasn’t aggressive, it wasn’t offensive, just annoying. And you’re allowed to be annoying as a fielder.

What happened with Bumrah he shouldn’t have done. But nor should the Indians have responded the way they did. And if we’re discussing behaviour, I have far more tolerance for a 19 year old who has gotten carried away and will probably look back on some of this stuff when he’s older and regret it, then I do a 36 year old with all the experience that Kohli has.

Besides, the Kohli incident happened before Konstas had done anything towards the Indians other than play some expansive shots.

Lastly, he’s actually only gotten out playing a non-orthodox shot once. And in the fifth test, only two players scored more runs than him. So realistically, his strike rate so far is pretty good. I agree, he made a tactical error in the second innings, however if he’d played a series of hook and pull shots, or cover drives successfully throughout his four innings, and then he gloved or skied one would there be the same scrutiny on him? So why is this shot any different? Players like Pant and Brook have shown that this is a method that can actually work at Test level. He just probably needs to pick the moments a bit better next time.

Good example. Starc demonstrated how you would expect an experienced player of his quality to handle that.

He didn’t lose his cool, just got his own back with the ball and gave Jaiswal a little wink and a nudge every time to remind him.

I also loved it from Jaiswal, the fact is in that innings it did look like the pace of Starc was comfortable for him, and I have no issue with a young player flexing his muscles a little bit and letting the opposition know that he isn’t intimidated.

What I cant stand is the double standards given to Kohli by the media and (Indian) cricket fans in general

Might have the aussie glasses on but it seems that he can carry on like a dickhead and everyone seems to love it (oh, he's a competitive beast etc). Yet if an Australian player carried on like that, he would be roasted.

The shoulder incident on Konstas - was barely was raised by the media and certainly there was very little on Social Media from the Indian fans about it and nothing said form the BCCI.

Yet I've raised it before - what would have happened if it was Starc who dropped his shoulder into (say) KL Rahul? You can just imagine the outrage that would have happened. The BCCI would have bene in uproar.

Given that Kohli had form in this area previously, he should have been suspended. Some say to move on but you simply cannot do that on the cricket field.

It's amazing the change that money brings. Growing up in the 70's and 80's the kings of cricket were the might West indies, no one could get near them. Then the Aussies and the Poms were the next big cricket countries.
India at that time and pretty much throughout cricket history had been a third world cricket country. they produced some good players and were almost impossible to beat in india but they were not regarded as a big player in the game.

Now look at India since they have found money all of a sudden they are one of the big teams if not the biggest and the once mighty Windies are a third world cricket country.

The point is here that money brings relaxed rules for the ones with it. Kohli incident just shows this.
And it also means the little cannot grow and the big just keep getting bigger.

Money as great as it is does a lot of damage to sport.

I don't think you understand what is considered mouthing off? That's consider mouthing off but Konstas wasn't, now if Konstas had said "he need to get ready with your bent arm action" then that's consider mouthing off.

Sledged was the wrong term, but he was being chirped at continually to try to get under his skin and it wasn't working so Virat took it up a notch by making a bee line for him and bumping into him to try to put him off his game.

In that test, it was remarkable. A couple of Indian stars were done over mentally by a debutant. Virat was chirping continually at Konstas. Virat should have gotten rubbed out for a game because he couldn't hack that a kid was batting audaciously and wasn't responded to his pressure. And then when Konstas was in the field he annoyed Jaiswal with his chirping so much that it resulted in Jaiswal losing the plot and playing a couple of shocking shots in an attempt to ping the ball into Konstas at silly point.

You seem to think senior players should be allowed to play mind games with youngsters and newbies should just defer without playing any mind games of their own.

Its called Test cricket for a reason. A test of skill, endurance, and temperament. Close in fielders have always chirped, a bat has to put that out of their mind. The fielding team and bowlers are trying to end the batters career by any legal means possible.
There is no law against encouraging your own bowlers or says things like ' come on boys, it's coming' etc etc. It may be annoying but it is TEST cricket. If its too hot to watch, T20 is on 24/7 somewhere.
