Time to get bigger and progress from playing good games to bullying opposition players (fairly/within the rules). Get on that Andrew Swallow diet and training routine.

Well, at least somebody loves George. :)

AFL Rising Star Power Rankings: Every nominee rated from 1-25 - Is 2024's best young gun Warlord, Wizard or a wingman?

George Wardlaw (North Melbourne)

Has there ever been a teenager play like Wardlaw?

Many grown men don’t attack the footy half as hard as North Melbourne’s battering ram – the only downside is the regular concussions he has copped as a consequence of his brutal approach.

If Sheezel, last year’s winner, is already the Kangaroos’ best player, then after just 26 games Wardlaw is clearly their most inspirational. Seen by many as a future captain of the club, he might be characterised for his toughness, but when the ball is in his hands he’s every bit as damaging and skilful as any of this year’s Rising Star crop.

With just one win in his first 25 AFL matches, you’d have forgiven Wardlaw for losing some of his passion towards the end of the season; yet with 20 disposals and six tackles in the Roos’ Launceston humiliation at the hands of Hawthorn, he was one of the few able to head back across Bass Strait with head held high.

The ‘Warlord’ is going to be a star of the game for the next 15 years; and for all Dempsey, Wilson, Watson and the rest of this season’s outstanding batch of future champions have achieved, the North Melbourne No.6 is a clear standout.

At least, that’s how I see it.

Missed 4 games all up with concussion, cost him in the end

After the concussion he wasn't quite at teh same level he had worked himself too.

No concussion and I have next to no doubt that he wins it.

Let Dempsey have his 5 minutes.

If you asked 18 coaches who they would take out of the two, it would 17 to 1 in favour of Wardlaw.

Only Chris Scott would pick Dempsey, but in private would take George.

Chris scott is the Geelong coach mate, he’d pick Dempsey and lobby the afl in the media why he can’t also have George. Would make no sense to him.

Wilson from St Kilda was very good this year and surprised he was not higher up. George had a solid year and the future is bright as he builds his tank.

Yeah I was surprised to see Lohmann up in 3rd above guys like Colby & Wilson.

Stepho won the rising star in 2018, sometimes it isn't very indicative.
Brother Tas Lewis Taylor also won the rising star.
Not the be all end all
