There should still be a fair bit of standing room?

Great to see it went so well. Will the ground lose some of it's charm when the new stands go up? was kinda special watching on TV the rows of people standing and cheering, but I suppose the "novelty" of standing will go eventually and the public will want quality seats to sit on. Anyhow, the first showdown will be immense!

I dont think it will olse much at all. The MCG hasnt lost any of its appeal since the olympic/members/ponsford stands were modernised. Its the central location, plumb in the picturesque parklands that make the venue what it is. The northern hill will always be there to cater for the standing, beer in hand yobbo element (very popular spot today).

Dunny's and food stands were a bit of a problem today, but that should be fixed with the big upgrade.

The outer was packed (fine weather), more quality seating is required no doubt but its a glimpse of what could be for football in this state!

Once again, PAFC takes the sh1t for moving this states football forward.

And how refreshing was it to get a beer and walk around without a lid and no gestaposanfl employees harassing you?

The future, brought to the state of SA by the PAFC...once again!

Gonna be so awesome, sucks to be tempted like that. It was awesome to be able to park down by the North Adelaide cinema, and not have to walk through the Ghetto to get to the footy:)

Concerned about afternoon sun though. looked real bad, and its all open. But excellent atmosphere.

As mentioned by a few posters, regardless of the result, it just looked attractive to watch - a bit like watching the Gold Coast home games. Atmosphere is great.

So if opposition supporters can say it looks good, then it can only mean good news in signing up new members.

Been over to Adelaide for the last three Carlton v Port Adelaide games, will be great in a few years time being able to go to Adelaide Oval for those games. Just watching it on tv the atmosphere stood out far from AAMI Stadium, the move is going to be great for both the Crows and Power.

Stark contrast to North Adelaide, its prime real estate

Yeah, obviously, but there's plenty worse and more "ghetto" places in Adelaide than that part of Seaton.

That being said, I'm all for the move to Adelaide Oval. More central to everything, updated facilities, better view of the ground (you feel miles from the action when you have to stare at the back of someone's head at AAMI Stadium, due to the angle of the seating). Just better for SA footy all round.

It's in a great position. Takes me about an hour and a half to drive to Aami Stadium, Adelaide oval is 20 minutes tops. Also traffic is a lot better with the crowds dispersing in all different directions rather than have 80% of the crowd all going down one road.

Crazy good atmosphere, I didnt even mind there not being any seats. Hell even standing room was packed.

Yeah, true, but its still shitty there. I was trying to imagine how it would feel all being closed in today. I can't wait. I've been to the MCG once and Damn it gave me chills walking in there. The atmosphere, is awesome, AO will be unreal, can't wait for the first showdown. And taking the train in will be great.

looks unbelievabely awesome. reminiscent of the good old summer days with the cricket. dont know why they never had this stadium as the main afl one in the first place.

Blame Don Bradman and his tight arsed attitude about money from sporting contests. If you doubt me, ask the Chappell brothers about Bradman's attitude towards money flowing to the right sporting bodies / individuals.

Blame the yes men around Bradman who didn't have the guts to stand up against the "icon" and tell him that the future of sports was spending money and up grading facilities.

Everyone was scared to publicly bag Bradman. But in the early 70's the SANFL privately said FU to the SACA just like the VFL said FU to the MCC. The SANFL went to Football Park and the VFL built Waverley Park.

But the MCG was always lurking in the background and the VFL wasn't allowed to cut the umbilical cord in the 1980's with the MCG. Thank god for that. In SA you never had the equivalent of the Cain government backing AO over Footy Park like you had the Cain government backing the MCG over Waverley.

If the SA government had an AO trust set up with the SACA like the Vic government has the MCG Trust set up with the MCC over the MCG, then AFL footy would have been played at AO from day 1.

It was great to see AFL at Adelaide Oval on the TV.

I think the charm about the ground is 'it's not perfect', that is, Docklands is the same all the way around and feels 'fake'.

AO has history and atmosphere, something money cannot buy.

Possibly the closest thing we now have to it in Victoria is Port Melbourne's TEAC Oval.

What a beautiful ground it is... looked amazing yesterday. As much as I always wanted football there rather than at West Lakes, I hope it doesn't lose too much of its charm with the redevelopment. My understanding is that they're gonna leave 25% of the ground at the northern end open, so that'll maintain the views of the fig trees, scoreboard and church spires..
I imagine the prospect of watching an away game at one of the most attractive sporting arenas in the world will draw over a lot of Victorian fans, and the central location will attract a lot of neutrals as happens at the 'G.. good times ahead for SA football and the state in general.

:thumbsu::thumbsu: Fantastic Day at a fantastic ground :thumbsu::thumbsu:

I've been all for this move and attending yesterday was everything I thought it would be.

Beers at local pubs before the game which were packed, friendly relaxed atmosphere and the sight of people walking through the torrens to get to the Oval (rather than floating, ;)) was a site to see.

Was on the hill and just like the cricket, it was the prime spot to be with mates.

A big thumbs up to those opposition supporters from interstate commenting on the positives for this also, we look forward to you coming down and picturing it for yourselves one day, you won't be disappointed.
