The butters thread on the port board is great...look pre last nights final and then post last nights final

Imagine sitting out the second half of a critical final and then what if the scans show nothing and he is back out there for the next final...[/

Have a look at the 15.48min to go mark of the first quarter - just before Ports first goal if you get a chance. Bowes absolutely smashed Butters as he kicked it - it was that early in the game

How I wish we would do the same at times

Can we just have a moment for resident troll Enviable Tradition ...

Comes onto our board and likes a bunch of post.... Almost feels like karma...

Is as good a bloke as Adam huskies and Peter Burgoyne....

Esava was a failed ruck/forward at Geelong, went back and turned into an ok interceptor. Geelong want to keep him, but Port and Hawks come hard for him due to poor defensive stocks. Port win his signature and pay a big price for him.

Fast forward 12 months, they’ve given up on him down back as he was a liability and started playing him in the original position he’s already a proven failure in to justify the pay packet. Classic.
So true. I felt he'd actually been playing well the last 6 or 7 weeks. But he did seriously jack all this game. Don't know if he was embarrassed for leaving or whether he's always gone missing in finals.

The qualifying final loser often rebounds and wins the semi

A week's reprieve then last rites the week after.

Hopefully enough to save Ken and rinse & repeat for 2025.

But this year is a more even year than previous ones. This is like 2016 when Bulldogs won.

FINALS FUN FACTS WITH GROTTO

In the first 14 years of the current final eight system, no fewer than 26 of 28 qualifying final losers rebounded to win their semi-finals the following week.

But there's been a profound change. Since 2014, only 10 of 20 qualifying final losers have recovered to win their semis, with ten teams going out in straight sets.

Think that as the competition gets more even the chances of this occurring increases and since 2016 we have had the finals bye. Wonder if that has impacted as well, not sure how but might be a cause.

SMOOOOTHYS SILLY SENSATIONAL STATS

Geelong had their most scoring shots in a final last night since 119
