Worried for Clarko, definitely a good move to step away and take the time he needs to make sure he looks after his health.
Surely this has to trigger the AFL into action now and come to a resolution.

I am litteraly seething right here. Firstly the NMFC have done nothing wrong here and we're getting shafted. Secondly, this absolute disgrace of an "investigation" is nothing more than attempt to politically correctly clean up this mess created SOLELY by the HFC. For Kennett to come out and talk about good governance is absolutely laughable.

This was an amateur attempt to run an investigation and for it to be leaked to the media is nothing short of a joke. For Clarko and Fagan to have absolutely no right of reply to these accusations proves how pathetically this has all been done. Clearly the accusers are not prepared to stand by thier accusations otherwise this would be moving forwards.

The toll of this has now become so immense Clarko has to step aside for a period to sort himself out mentally and also send a shot across the bow of the AFL that i'm not just going to sit here and take this anymore. This will get things moving one way or another and if i was a betting man my moneys on Clarko.

It’s important we separate the stresses of coaching our football club from the inept ‘review’ Hawthorn are supposedly conducting.

Coaching us at the moment is a big enough challenge without the circus of an investigation and the media regurgitating bull** drama to create headlines. There’s got to come a point where the AFL has a legal obligation to do more for the better of the people involved in the league. The fact they’ve washed their hands of the investigation is weak as p* because they knew how messy this was going to get.

Genuinely hope Clarko, Fagan and Burt take the AFL and Hawthorn to the cleaners over this. Some things are bigger than football, I hope in time these people AND their families which have been going through the s*** get some time and space to heal.

Also about time the AFL took control of the media and start revoking passes for those who report in an incriminating or defamatory matter. It’s bad for the people involved, it’s bad for the brand, it’s an embarrassment that’s destroying lives. Take the oxygen from these reporters and they’ll have to start writing and presenting stories with credibility instead of “I’ve heard” or “I’ve got it on good authority”. Grow a f*ing spine Andrew Dillon, the future of the game is in your hands - if you want to be a corporate knob jockey playing boardroom twister with the other 1%ers then f* off back to Old Xavs.

Clarko should take as much time as he needs so he can come back refreshed and ok mentally.
Hopefully they can resolve this investigation quickly for all parties. Fagan must be struggling too but is maybe a bit removed being in QLD.
The media have been disgusting and need a good hard look at themselves.
I think the reporting I think by Jay Clark of the Mitchell-Clarko speech story was another example of a story that didn't need to be published to heap more pressure onto Clarko and others.

I said right from day one I couldn't see a way out for Clarko to coach on at NM. He is being crushed by faceless allegations that he can't even see. WTF? I am also told he will not compromise with a soft apology, fair enough. This is one subject I hate to be right - but I was right. Can't wait for the AFL's response.

I’m so angry about this!! I feel so sorry for Clarko and the club. The injustice is so real.

I predicted that he would not coach us and was right bar a few weeks. But like many others I never stuck the boot in once. I don't believe he is racist and the stories I have heard about what was said reinforce that. Too many people want to make money out of this 5hitfight. This whole charade has been so poorly handled that whoever is responsible at AFL level for the mess should resign immediately. Clarko can't win - that's the issue here. It's just a total mess and no clear way forward now.

Thought crossed my mind too but I thought it might happen when the mediation or a court case happened. Clarko (and Fagan) have been treated so poorly.

Clarko stepping away primarily due to his mental health deteriorating. He can’t honestly coach to the standard he’d love to and perform, and he feels like he’s letting the players, staff and supporters down. I can’t imagine how hard it’s been for him to front up and manage North and this issue as well.

A selfless decision.

FWIW the lawyers employed by the AFL to investigate the issue are none the wiser. There has been no change on their end other than that mediation is at a stalemate. This is legit Clarko just not being able to cope. Feel for the man
