Fair call. Has Laburnum had a mention yet? I recently moved to Blackburn but I'm about 200 metres from Laburnum station. As far as I can tell Laburnum consists of 2 houses and an IGA.

A few pages earlier had its first mention.
Also, in my uni years I used to frequent that area, mainly because of the poon!

Disappointed South Kensington station hasn’t been given a shout out by now.

It’s there.
Not sure why it exists.
Not really sure if trains do stop there or not.
But it’s there.

Recently I'd been getting into the history of train stations and from memory SK was set up for industry workers, it also has a bizarrely narrow platform.

One for the locals. When you pass through Willison station, even the train announcement can’t believe it exists, saying the name with a definite question mark. One of our son’s friends has always been a massive train nerd, specialising in these weird stations. From memory this one was originally a golf course, not a suburb.

Indeed it was. The whole area around Hartwell and Willison was the former location of the Riversdale Golf Course (near Riversdale Rd) which is now in Mount Waverley. In the 1930s the area was developed for housing and is still know as the Golf Course Estate.

Apologies for the intrusion but I have been lurking for some time as this thread seems to be the only place where there is a balanced discussion of this topic. (The Clarko stuff I mean, not the suburbs that don't exist :D ).

Was the old golf course where Frog Hollow Reserve is now, by the railway line? Good info anyway.

I don't think it was. I think the golf course was on the other side of the railway line. Willison station was originally called Golf Links station as it was near where the club house was in Stodart St.

One of the North guys I go to the footy with regularly is a train/tram history buff, he’s done a few maps of the historical railway lines in Melbourne. Shoot me a PM if you’re interested in getting in touch with him about that stuff.

With apologies for derailing your thread, Phil Egan has been committed to stand trial on 70 counts of fraud.

In the spirit of the recent posts on this thread, I don’t know what suburb he comes from, nor whether it is properly classified as a suburb
Robinvale I think. Which probably wouldn’t appreciate being classified as a suburb of Swan Hill.

Hi all - million things can happen between now and then but the trial in the Rioli v Hawthorn case has been scheduled to start 2 June next year

Cheers for the info. Right in the middle of the season lol.

I dunno about lol.

I was hoping that we would get something before the end of the year with some clear air in 25.

Instead this will drag now to the mid point of his contract if not beyond.

Hopefully they all comes to some form of settlement before it actually reaches court.
