he's always welcome up in sydney :). i wouldn't trade mitchell for him, but after being dropped this week i wouldnt rule it out

Mitchell for Harry? Deal, get it on paper now, immediately. No cooling off period.

Swans are losing Malceski and Shaw may retire, they need a half back....

Ring Eddie and get him to lock it in?

can't beleive some of the comments in this thread. i dunno, i still really like the guy and loved what he's done for the club. clearly he's at times naive but i've never felt his heart wasn't in the right place and i can't fault him for that, let alone abuse him for it. that goal and celebration in the 2010 reply is one of my top all time magpie moments.

Well what about Daisy in the 2010 Final Series?

Lordy, is he for real ...... seriously? Threatening to quit over that - the dude's got issues. Club is better off cutting him loose and can do without the constant drama. Bit of a shame really, that it ends up coming to this - reckon the club will call his bluff and give him his marching orders, patience only runs so far. H didn't learn the lesson of Heater.

At least shaw had passion about the game, harrys interests are anything but

Pissweak effort from a player who is but a faint shadow of his former self. However, he is yet another player to fall out with the coach. Other clubs don't seem to experience the player exits we have over the last few years.

Nevertheless, he has not performed to expectations the last few years and will be no great loss to the team. Having said that, I'd have to add that the club can ill afford to shed any more experienced players.

To suggest that we will get even a 2nd round pick for him seems almost fanciful. In some ways he is worth more to us as a player than he is as a trade.

What with injuries and player loss, the club just does not strike me as being all that well run.

I agree that we can't lose anymore senior players at present but seriously how is this Buckley's fault.

....."Coach Nathan Buckley, who it is understood was unaware of the poster, was taken aback by the claim of an unsafe workplace during a meeting with Lumumba late in the season."

...."There has since been a series of meetings between Lumumba and club officials – including a lengthy meeting on Monday with club President Eddie McGuire"

...."Later this week there have been further discussions between the player and the match committee"

from his manager -"Heritier loves Collingwood and respects Nathan Buckley and he acknowledges that the way he expresses himself at times can be problematic and he needs to modify how he expresses himself going forward whether that is at Collingwood or at another club."

Hmm I don't want to lose another experienced player but seriously....

I'd do the straight swap for Garlett quite happily. I'd rather get an established player for him than another draft pick.

All jokes aside, Harry has been a great servant for the club, especially during our period at the top. This could be the best move for both parties, he is clearly frustrated and It sounds like the club is aswell. If he were to leave there would be no bad wishes on my behalf. He means well, just not sure this is the right environment.

why is everyone touting Garlett as a straight swap? Garlett is rotting in the twos at Carlton because he has an attitude problem. We would simply be replacing one attitude with another.

Because his fast can kick goals and can crumb. His upside is really good.

I actually support him thinking the graffiti on the sign was not ok in a workplace and complaining about it. Threatening to resign is taking that too far. Letting it be the catalyst that leads to you walking out? Way too far.

Purely on footballing terms, I'd be glad to see him traded. If he wants out, sounds win win. I'm sure his new employer will be happy to drop everything to manage his sensibilities.

Sad news for you guys, always hated o brien because he is a good player. I really hope carlton do not trade garlett for o brien because garlett is a better player in my opinion, but I reckon malthouse would love him to come to carlton =/

Id probably take o brien for robinson + a draft pick if o brien wasnt such a cry baby...

Hes a good player though!

Jeff Garlett? At a club with actual culture? Are you forgetting why we got rid of Shaw? Sam Blease is the man for me ;)

Our culture will turn Garlett around. Sam Blease doesn't know what defence means.

This :thumbsu:

Usually when these things happen it's a symptom of other underlying frustrations.

Might be time to shake hands, wish each other well, and part ways. H might benefit from a new environment, the club might benefit from not having somebody around who they need to tread on egg shells with.
