So a COL housing crisis was developing under scomo Dutton and they spent 6 months a huge amounts of time out of a three year term shutting down parliament and only caring about some religious discrimination bill which hardly anyone understood

But the current govt are accused of vanity projects?
It's the old someone stuffed up at work and you have to fix it basically.

Albo might not be the cause of it but he's the one right now in charge and is the one that has to fix it.

So the bullshit story about Albanese buying a house like every other property baron politician didn't stick, and now the right-wing media is dredging up an old bullshit story about Albo and Qantas from more than a decade ago when he was Transport Minister.

They're trying everything to see what sticks. I acknowledge that it's not a good look, but this country has so many bigger fish to fry than this crap.
What's hilarious is the Libs are caught up in it too. McKenzie getting on her moral high ground high horse but it turns out she's received perks of the job as well and yet is trying to spin it like it's not the same thing. Likewise Potato. This is 1 issue the opposition should be keeping their mouths shut about but they can't help themselves. The media are not even trying to hide their bias around this, doing a good job pretending the Libs aren't as bad.

All of it should be exposed. Albo was Transport Minister and personally hit up the boss of QANTAS for free first class tickets for himself and his son.

If this was the Libs this place would be wanting to burn down Lib headquarters.

BTW: are you suggesting the ABC and SBS are protecting the Liberals?

Yep.

It's a shocking lack of judgement and respect for transparency from a former Minister for Transport and current PM.

The suggestion that 'almost everyone does it' (elected officials seeking favour from corporates) is demonstrably true but that doesn't detract from the lack of integrity of it all - especially as in this case it involves a direct negotiation for personal benefit between a Minister and a CEO of a company under his direct portfolio responsibility.

Albanese might have got out of this with his honour in place if he simply owned up to his transgression and did some sort of mea culpa attempt at accepting blame and using it to make change.

He didn't.

He tried the old three card trick of 'but I declared it' when surely even he knew the facts show that was at best a part truth. Again, he wasn't the first and won't be the last MP to get caught out in his own BS chicanery, but he was caught out nevertheless. He lost track of what it means to be a public official and deserves every once of the political flack he will get from now to the election.

On a side note, if this leads to every state and federal MP or public agency CEO who gets a Chairman's Club pass for life having to hand theirs in and being unable to ever accept such blatant corporate bribery again then the public has had a win.

Edit: Mind you, having the likes of LNP hero and former Deputy PM Barnaby Joyce lecturing others about 'not passing the pub test' is a huge and literal piss take.

Especially as Barnaby has declared Qantas upgrades as well

Of course his son is still part of the chairman’s lounge as a plus one for the man of the people….
More scrutiny needs to be done on this re the knocking back of Qatar trying to get more flights into the country…. Would have nothing to do with them undercutting airbus Albos mate Joyce on prices if allowed would it..
