Interesting to see Bradman jnr sent in a night watchman ahead of him, must have been a bit scared after the last game. Unfortunately he picked the wrong guy.

Those three were all picked in the Australian team in their preferred positions before being tried as openers out of necessityNor was Langer, Katich or Khawaja for a while in their career.
If McSweeney is a legit cricketer, he'll find a way.
Neither he nor Bancroft are anywhere near Test standard. Zero interest in watching either in the Baggy Green.Harris is a crab, but he'll be opening in the first test.
WutAn incredibly soft dismissal by mcSweeney
Did you miss it?

I'd tend towards the devil we don't know, in this instance.Nor is McSweeney
I like all options in all honestlyI'd tend towards the devil we don't know, in this instance.
I still think Head opening with Webster or Inglis slotting in down the order is the play.
Important McSweeney is in the 14 even if not in the starting 11.I like all options in all honestly
happy if Mcsweeny opens
happy if Inglis comes into the team and some else marnus or head opens ....reckon both lads will do well if picked
Webster is a smoky.....what has not been discussed much on this board and in the media...is the ability of Marsh to bowl. He hasn't bowled all this summer that concerns me .....this could be a factor in picking the side.
About 30 more for Harris tomorrow, and you'd reckon he'd be in, right LukeParkerno1 ?
Saw Maxwell play for Victoria in a 4 day 2nd 11 game a couple of weeks back and he seemed to be in 2 minds on what way to bat.Has hardly played any red ball cricket for 5 years at least and trying to adjust after playing so much T20 cricket might be harder then you think. At 36 years of age Maxi is not our future in red ball cricket but Sri Lanka perhaps. With such a poor group of cricketers trying to make the team...why not throw Maxwell in....class will win out in the end.
All that a side he has more talent in his big toe than anyone else trying to break in to the teamSaw Maxwell play for Victoria in a 4 day 2nd 11 game a couple of weeks back and he seemed to be in 2 minds on what way to bat.Has hardly played any red ball cricket for 5 years at least and trying to adjust after playing so much T20 cricket might be harder then you think. At 36 years of age Maxi is not our future in red ball cricket but Sri Lanka perhaps.
I’ve some high heat epoxy I can loanIf Harris opens the batting for australia i will superglue an iron to my face and turn it on
Yep, walking wicket and one of the worst fielders ever to wear a baggy greenHopefully that doesn’t happen India would love it
Harris needs a ton even that will probably not be enoughHere’s how I see it. McSweeney is in pole position - if he gets runs in the second dig, then he’s a shoe in, unless, and this will bother some, Harris gets a big score - 100 or close enough in this innings. That may irk some, but thankfully none of us are selectors.
It will bother us all but the simple fact is he is ahead of a bad bunch...mcsweeney included. Reminds me of the bad old days of the 80's. John Dyson and the like. Here’s how I see it. I reckon a ton would do it, but he’d still want to get some runs in the secondHarris needs a ton even that will probably not be enough
Not sure you can call Harris last test innings as a failure,I would say more bad luck with Head out of the 4th test in Sydney v England because of covid and replaced by Khawja. He batted at 5 and made 137 and 101 no.Head back for the 5th test and Harris was dropped and Khawja moved to opener and grasped that opportunity as we all know.We can only hope mind you that should have been the case after the last failure
Completely agree with this, his innings in Melbourne was underrated. His biggest failing for mine is that he gets through the first few overs, gets to 20 odd and then doesn’t go on. An old coach once told me something along the lines of “if you go out for a duck, that’s just bad luck, if you get out for 20 that’s bad cricket”Not sure you can call Harris last test innings as a failure,I would say more bad luck with Head out of the 4th test in Sydney v England because of covid and replaced by Khawja. He batted at 5 and made 137 and 101 no.Head back for the 5th test and Harris was dropped and Khawja moved to opener and grasped that opportunity as we all know.
Harris made 76 in the 3rd test in Melbourne on a difficult wicket and was top score. In the 4th test in Sydney test he made 38 and 27 which was his last test.
Harris gets the starts but does not go on with it in test cricket as you need a opener who gets to 30, which he did often.Lets see how he goes today as he again has got the start.
