We play no more than 3 games in a row in Victoria and one of those includes Geelong. Seems like a lot of travel for the boys, anyone know how we stack up against the other clubs?
We elect to play 4 out of 11 home games in Hobart.

Complaining about the travel is like buying a house next to a train station and saying its too noisy.

If anyone wants game-footage of any particular incidents, drop timestamps in here and I'll post them later tonight.

Did you catch something about Lachie Neale having a few friends and family at the game?

Do they play North again this season? If they do, they can't finish below us, surely???

Who's spot will Harley take in 2024?
If we do finish last, which is a massive e possibility we may actually look to cash in on the hype and take a big offer. If this kid is what they are saying there may be some ridiculous offers.

If we do finish last and want Reid, you would think there might be someone on the trade table, because you can have too many midfielders.

As has been mentioned, we played the 6th oldest side in the comp this week. It hasn't worked - understand why it was tried but now it's time to get games in to Goater and others. We can't play Shiels, Turner and co at the expense of development.

And when Logue, Mackay, Corr and Ziebell make us top heavy in the backline - Logue can and should go forward.
Logue should remain at CHB, it's the others that need sorting out.

To your first point, ultimately, Goldy, Cunners, Shiels, Lmac, Turner, Howe, Greenwood, Ziebell and Corr can't all be playing in the same team. I'd say only a couple of those are even deserving of their spots based on form this year. Problem is, guys like Larkey, Taylor, Scott aren't setting the house on fire either (Larkey was good the first two but since...). That's 12 from today's team that probably should be fighting for two-three spots maximum. So much turnover and integration still needs to happen with this list.

Curtis, Bergman, Goater, and Wardlaw are four who you'd say absolutely come (back) into the team this season. Xerri started the first game so he's another. That's five younger blokes who look like they can be a part of the future and should actively be getting regular AFL games. After that, who?

Ill be returning to my North Supporter coping mechanisms of the last 5-6 years for the next week. Switching off all media and footy until 440pm sharp next Sunday. And avoiding all outside footy discussion wherever possible
Just seen the Essendon* score and makes me even more sick. Can only hope the holes in Scott's gameplan start showing at some point.

Logue literally came to North because he wanted to play in defence and didn't want to be used as a forward like at Freo. He is not going forward.

Don’t think we can play Mckay, corr and logue.

Today was like the Brad Scott defensive structure of old, where mid sized defenders worked back and ended up covering a KPF on the goal line.

McKay and Logue pushed too hard up the ground at times and got smoked out the back - apollo_creed commented about our zone being shit and it was just that.

Smoked around the footy and unfortunately cunners isn’t the answer anymore. Need a more dynamic mix - can’t wait to see wardlaw. Phillips was good today, Tommy powell not so much.

We desperately lack another key forward that can be a dump kick up the line, and it’s not Chom. He works his arse off and tackles like a beast when it hits the deck. Maybe Larkey needs to get up the ground a bit and Chom plays deeper? That or can we afford to play cunners down there full time. Curtis needed the spell, and he comes straight back in.

Fair few questions that clarko needs to answer

Yes I completely agree with this, Corr/Logue and Ziebell are playing for the same spot at the moment.
They can’t all play in the same team with McKay.
Add McDonald in that lot and it’s a recipe for what happened today.
Ziebell, Logue and Corr has been a lot better for the defensive setup than the shot we served today.

We’re still really bad.

McRae went in and made Collingwood a top 4 team from being touted bottom 4
Lyon’s gone in and ignored all the injuries at a struggling club, no excuses made - is undefeated
Scott with all his supposed flaws has Essendon looking pretty good tbh

And here we are, picking over the carcass of another loss wondering why.

It gets pretty hard to keep following this club. Absolute loser mentality for 20 years.

Leaving that many blokes unmanned i50 has to be a deliberate choice. It is comical.

I do not understand why you would allow and indirectly encourage an offensive press that pushes McKay and Logue completely off Hipwood and Daniher. Played directly into their hands.

Offensively, what do Howe and Lmac provide to us by moving further upfield? They do not have the foot skills for it, yet neither will be dropped anytime soon.

I thought clarko would bring grit and accountability.

The irony in this is that one of Stevos goals literally came from defensive pressure where he laid a tackle that was paid holding the ball.
No, the irony is that he actually didn't lay a tackle and knocked the ball out. It should have been play on or holding the man. As I said, he was lucky.

But in the first 6 rounds we won’t have played a Hobart game, but still traveled 4 times.

In that same span of games, here are the times travelled by Vic sides including Reacher Round.

Carlton - 2
Collingwood - 2
Essendon - 1
Geelong - 2
Hawthorn - 4 (2 of their Tassie Home Games)
Melbourne - 3
Richmond - 2
St Kilda - 1
Western Bulldogs - 2

So not sure you can attribute Hobart to what is nothing more than being arseholed by the AFL.

I think the most interesting thing from today is that Clarkson refused to play defensively, even when we were getting smashed. It sounds weird to say it but was he intentionally embracing the yawning chasm between the teams so the players got a huge reality check?

I'm not saying that makes sense, it's just one of the few things I can think of that explains what we saw. Total breakdown of structure and we just stayed with it till the bitter end.

The other takeouts were Cunnington and Larkey. Cunners looking a full second slower in the packs and Larkey needs to decide if he has a centre of gravity or not. Not just today, the way he plays when we're getting smashed is a genuine worry. Spends more time on the ground with his arms up than contesting the ball.

Most players went missing of course, but we were so bad I can't see much constructive analysis coming from it. We played like a bunch of newborn chicks stepping out of a spinning dryer.

i suggested during the week mckay play forward as the mix of talls wouldn’t work. I was told by a few he isn’t a forwards a** hole. Turns out he isn’t much of a full back either. Anyone expecting to win a modern AFL footy game with 5 tall slow back men is kidding themselves.
